Pineapple Express-Saw it on Cable. Not too funny, kinda bad Black Comedy.
Added 10/23/2009
The movie is long, At times funny, and Not entirely a stoner film per se, but pretty much bland. At least Cheech & Chong Is funny(I Don't do Drugs myself-which has nothing to do with it). But The movie plot is dumb. Don't see what the big deal is. I do have to hand it to Craig Robinson He is funny.

Mindless Drug Movie for Mindless Drug Users
Added 6/16/2009
Another dumb movie that tries to pick up where Half-Baked left off. It's about some mindless guys who do nothing but smoke pot from the beginning of the movie to the end.
So if you are a mindless pot-smoking viewer with nothing better to do with your life, you will like it.
If you are troubled by movies like this which trivialize and downplay the big problem of drug use in our society, or agree that it makes drug use seem like a cool thing to do without regard to the life-changing consequences, you will want to pass on this junk.

Pineapple Express rocks with a message
Added 5/15/2009
The film is smart and hilarious, but there is an underlying message. Contrary to what we hear, this movie does not set out to valorize dope smoking and irresponsible behavior, but points up how much trouble you can get into when you forget to be a citizen. Wonderful performances from Seth Rogen and James Franco (especially if you loved them as kids in "Freaks and Geeks") and lots of fun and something to think about at the end of it.

Half laughs and half boredom
Added 2/3/2010
"Pineapple Express", if you're wondering, is a "brand" of marijuana sold in this movie and the signature element that sets off a war between two drug cartels...into which actor Seth Brogan stumbles by way of witnessing a murder -- when high from Pineapple Express.
If this made you chuckle, you're probably going to like this movie. I last saw Brogan in the miraculous Knocked Up Knocked Up (Unrated Full Screen Edition), one of the funnier films I've seen in recent years. This one is funny, too, but it is also wearisome and dull when visceral comedy isn't creating laughs.
Brogan and his pot-dealing buddy (James Franco) have to outwit (perhaps a poor choice of words) a couple contract killers in this movie after the former witnesses the murder. This takes them from the comfort of their bong-driven life to life in transit, even though they never get far from home.
The humor in this movie is all slapstick. In one memorable scene, the two heroes visit a "friend" who intentionally attacks them in his home and a three-way fight breaks out. The homebody hides in the bathroom and Brogran and bud break down the door, knocking the other guy into the sink which is dislodged from the wall. It's a lot funnier watching and hearing the action than what I can describe, and there are a half-dozen scenes almost as good throughout the movie. Take these scenes away, though, and you have a really stupid and dull late adolescent movie.
Good comedies are hard to come by and, while I wouldn't call this a good one, it is laugh out loud funny at least a half-dozen times, often for 3-4 minutes at a time, and the action keeps moving so you're not bored with a flat story. "Pineapple Express" isn't the last word in anything but, when it's all said and done, people are going to remember it as another funny movie from Brogan.

Will not play on my two blu-ray players
Added 1/18/2010
I managed to play the digital copy of this movie and it was funny. However, I paid for a blu-ray HD movie and the blu-ray disk would not play in both of my blu-ray players. My PS3 has the 3.15 firmware which is current as of 2010, and all is does is show four puffs of smoke on the screen, and nothing else. Same thing on my Toshiba, current firmware and no movie.
Do NOT waste your money.
