NOT worth "SCALPER" prices
Added 8/23/2009
This is a good enough program - but unlike most dvd's which sell for $10 - $15, some sellers are "asking" FAR more (way above list price) & one of them seems to have PLENTY of "NEW" INVENTORY - how is that? * * * BEWARE * * * they have been regularly reducing their prices (apx -$30.00 in the last few months). Why pay still way over-inflated "scalper" prices - hold-out for further reductions - to a more reasonable $15 - $20. Or better yet, wait a little bit for a remastered re-release.

Richard Avedon is a master of light. He was a wonderful Photographer and this film give an insight of his motifs. It is amazing how you get to learn so much about this person and from him.

Avedon - DVD.
Added 2/12/2009
There is no way anyone who loves "light" and phtography can''t take the time to view and study this Icon's approach to subject, light, and composition.
A master of imaging, never reducing his subjects to just people per se. Fashion without the "sexuality". All his work is starkly subtle and beautiful.

Unavailable -- how ironic.
Added 11/30/2007
If there were ever evidence that American commerce has lost its soul, one need only wonder why this film/DVD is nearly impossible to find. Ironically, Richard Avedon was in search of the expression behind the expression: the self exposed as much as it can be--the person being private in public. Maybe it's just too frightening to consider an artist and art such as this one in an age oversaturated with images and bereft of substance. Luckily my neighborhood library has a copy.
