Mickey Rourke does a fine job making a P.I. look like an amoral thug. DeNiro supports as a client beyond reproach with a somewhat aloof demeanor. There is murder, mayhem, voodooism, blood-letting, cannibalism, incest, brutality, and assorted other barbarisms. It does what it sets out to do rather successfully. You might find the foregoing colorfully filmed acts artfully accomplished and intriguing to experience as necessary fulfillment of the creative staffs concept. You might find them off-putting and good reason to eject the disc. In any case, be aware that this is not Sam Spade, the Thin Man or Marlowe.

I was mislead when I thought this was a De Niro movie,,he's only in it a few times and if you like movies with voo doo, blood, guts and a heart rollin around on the floor, go for it,, showing De Neros face on the front of the dvd is really misleading...

Now this movie is really on point! My man Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro played good roles in this film. And oh I can't forget Lisa Bonet! She is sexy as hell in this movie! When i watch the sex scene part when mickey rourke and lisa bonet was doing it, it felt like im watching a porno movie! And not to mention that this movie has a suprising twist! And who ever said that this movie sucks its obviously that they don't have good taste in movies cause sometimes their opinion dosen't count! But anyway i love this movie! I couldn't get it nowhere eles. But amazons got the best stuff and the best gifts! Thanks Amazon! Ya'll are bout it! Do whatcha do!

I saw this movie a long time ago when it first came out. But I bought this for a friend, to add to his horror collection. In fact I purchased this and another movie called Mr. Frost, also from Amazon. The gift's running theme was the Devil and I thought Robert De Niro's performance as Satan in Angel Heart was excellent. Along with Jeff Goldblum in Mr. Frost. Just wonderful acting. For myself, my favorites as far as who played God's most beloved angel but got the boot are these 2, plus Viggo Mortensen in The Prophecy, and John Glover in Brimstone. Broke my heart when they didn't continue with the series. His version of the Devil was outstanding. Sighs.. He will be missed.. RIP.
