Far from the Madding Crowd 1967 - Julie, Julie, Julie.
Added 6/27/2009
I have always been in love with Julie Christie. From Darling, Doctor Zhivago, Fahrenheit 451, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, Nashville, Shampoo etc. etc. all the way to the "shoulda-won-the-Oscar" gut-wrenching Away From Her. She is many, many adjectives (but always, at least, Luminous, Vulnerable, Edgy). She is all that and more here, surrounded by Terence Stamp, Peter Finch, Alan Bates and a bad, bad, bad Border Collie in this exquisite picture. Sure, Julie has her hands full but she also has her wits about her... she gets through. Buy it now!

One of the Greatest Movies
Added 5/26/2009
This is a masterpiece of a movie. Of course, it stars some of Britain's greatest actors, i.e., Julie Christie, Alan Bates, Peter Finch and Terrence Stamp. The scenery is breathtaking and the characters are well developed and interesting. It is a beautiful story by Thomas Hardy and takes the viewer through romance, tragedy, sadness and joy. Well worth the almost three hours of viewing.

Received DVD in good condition and fast delivery. The picture was interesting but was a bit long. I lost some interest toward the end of the film.

Far from the Madding Crowd

Julie Christie, Alan Bates, and Peter Finch are convincing in this movie version of Thomas Hardy's novel. The supporting cast is wonderful, too, as is the scenery. The music score is one of the best I've heard. This movie should have won Oscars for acting, photography, music, and play. I would recommend everyone see it at least twice, the first time to hear the music and dialog and learn the plot, the second to savor the beauty of the film.
