Plot: Two hapless psychics unwittingly aid a criminal in his quest to obtain a mystic relic in this farcical adventure. Street smart beauty-school dropout Sylvia Pickel (Cyndi Lauper) navigates life with the counsel of a spirit named Louise, while genteel Nick Deezy (Jeff Goldblum) has the ability to read an object's past just by holding it. Harry Buscafusco (Peter Falk) is the treasure hunter who brings them together for a trip to Ecuador to find his missing son. Nick and Sylvia don't get on at first, their animosity only amplified by various slapstick escapades that find them posing as siblings and hobnobbing with monied jet-setters. Eventually, Buscafusco's missing-child premise turns out to be a ruse; his true intentions envelop Nick and Sylvia in serious peril just as they're beginning to let down their guard and fall for one another. The action climaxes in a special effects-laden jungle sequence. Vibes marked the screen debut of pop singer Cyndi Lauper, whose single Hole in My Heart (All the Way to China) graces the closing credits. Despite the poor box-office results of Vibes and the generally poor reviews for her performance, Lauper would go on to earn an Emmy award for a guest stint on TV's Mad About You and appear with Christopher Walken in the indie drama The Opportunists. ~ Brian J. The Dvd movie, "Vibes" is one of the most underrated movies ever made. The dialogue scripted in this movie is clever, unique and freshly delivered by the actors. This movie doesn't go for cliche' cheap gags. And for Peter Falk fans, you will experience laugh out loud moments as Falk delivers most of the movies rim shot lines. It is a trademark style of borderline humor/drama that Falk is known for in all of his movies and here he gives a Vaudevillian vault of comedic patter that full eclipse stars like Milton Berle, Don Rickles, Jackie Mason and George Burns!

Also, Jeff Goldblum and Cyndi Lauper keep us watching every minute of their ping ponging the ball of delicious sharp humor across the screen. Goldblum fans will notice that this is by-far one of his finest comedic performances. And for the fact finders out there, you may be interested in knowing that this movie is actually based on a true phenomenon called "Technical Remote Viewing", that has been one of the most popular subjects on the Art Bell radio show years ago. In fact, the character in "Vibes" called Ingo Swedlin, portrayed by actor Googy Grees, is actually based on true life Technical Remote Viewer Ingo Swan, who was a frequent guest of the Bell show and an expert Remote Viewer for the United States Government.

Look for other famous faces such as Steve Buscemi looking remarkably like Barney Fife, minus the one bullet and gun, and Don Bexley of Sandford and Son, the world most famous Bubba, next to Bill Clinton of course! The movie "Vibes" is a laugh feast for the family and a must for any comedy movie collection. review by Malik Jubal

A must have for my desert island DVD list

The DVD format for this movie was, for me, a long time coming and well worth the wait. Arguably, this movie is Cyndi Lauper's finest performance on the silver screen, and the roles portrayed by co-stars Jeff Goldblum and Peter Falk are, in my humble opinion, among the best work they've done in the comedic genre'. Supporting actor Googy Gress provides an excellent antagonistic character role. One of the few movies made by Cyndi Lauper makes this DVD a collectors item for her fans.

Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum play two psychics duped by Peter Falk into searching for a hidden temple somewhere deep in the Andes mountains of Peru. The temple of gold they are misled into finding turns out to be so much more than material treasure. A top notch story-line and stellar performances by the cast make this movie a must have possession for comedy, adventure, and sci-fi buffs alike. Enjoy the hilarious mystery and adventure of "Vibes".

Been looking for this movie for three years on DVD, have worn out my VHS tape. If you're a Cindy Lauper and Jeff Goldblum fan this movie is a must for the collection. Peter Falk outdoes his-self as well not to mention a wonderful supporting cast of very fine actors. Highly recommend you find your DVD copy today.

I love this movie. I have since I first saw it on Cable TV years ago.Its a funny, silly movie that always makes me laugh. Cyndi Lauper does good comedy for her first outing. I am really glad that it finally is available on DVD.
