Prince Looks Even More Gorgeous on Blu-ray!
Added 1/10/2010
I've seen Purple Rain a million times as I'm a huge Prince fan. It remains a timeless gem that wonderfully illustrates just why after so many years, Prince still reigns supreme. His talent is unparalleled. The film is also ground-breaking in its depiction of Black musicians and their pursuit of fame. The movie inspired so many people to believe in themselves and kick through doors previously considered to be bolted shut. I've seen PR at the theaters when I was a child, on VHS, DVD and several times on cable; with and without commercials! Thankfully, I can now say that I've seen it on Blu-ray. This technology is incredible. Prince is gorgeous, but the disc makes him look even better! I didn't think that was possible! So many video titles have not received the Blu-ray treatment and it's uncertain if they ever will. That's unfortunate. However, I'm grateful that people understand the importance of Purple Rain and the need to preserve it for the enjoyment of generations to come!

Purple Rain
Added 1/7/2010
Semi-autobiographical account of a young rock star's setbacks amidst his meteoric rise to fame. The Kid (Prince) is a highly talented musician who is trying to make it big in the business. Morris Day (Himself) is a rival musician, who is trying to get the Kid supplanted from the club, because he thinks that he plays music that nobody wants to here,. Prince performs excellent near the movie ending as he sings "Purple Rain", "I Would Die 4 U", and "Baby I'm A Star". See this movie, and get the soundtrack.

Worth Buying on Blu Ray!
Added 12/25/2009
Looks and SOUNDS great on Blu Ray. I have the regular DVD and it's not even in Dolby 5.1 so I bought the Blu Ray. Picture quality is great and the sound is awesome! Nice bonus features too including a look at the real First Avenue club in Minneapolis and audio commentary from Executive Producer Bob Cavallo among others.

HDDVD films at a great price
Added 12/5/2009
Yes, the costumes, outfits, music, and dance moves are dated
but it still was a great movie. While staged it was great to see
Prince perform in his early years. Don't look for any deep meaning
other than it was a story for it's time. For all of us 40 and 50
somethings it's a nice nostalgic look back at our youth.
