Plot: Are you ready for a new kind of superhero -- a thirty-something virgin in long underwear? Darryl Walker (Damon Wayans) is a bright but socially inept man with a gift for inventing things but little skill for functioning in the real world. His brother Kevin (David Alan Grier) works on a low-class tabloid news show featuring beautiful anchorwoman Kimberley Jonz (Robin Givens), whom he secretly loves. The Walkers live in Metro City, Illinois, a city that's been hit with a massive crime wave after the mayor is kidnapped by gangsters. After his grandmother is killed, Darryl builds a collection of crime-fighting robots from household junk, invents bullet-proof long underwear (made from his grandmother's old housecoat), and becomes Metro City's newest crime fighter, Blankman. Blankman's escapades put fear into the heart of mob boss Michael Minelli (Jon Polito), and when Kevin turns out to have an inside track on Blankman's activities, it brings him closer to Kimberley. But how long can a superhero with no superpowers last against the forces of organized crime? Damon Wayans wrote the original story for Blankman as well as co-writing the screenplay and playing the title role, which was based in part on his Handi-Man character from the TV comedy series In Living Color. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The Major is Major, the Sgt is minor

I got this and SGT Bilko in that two in one package. Well, things were exactly backwards to what I had expected. Bilko was was just plain dumb and barely tolerable, while Major Payne turned out to be enjoyable and fun. Damon Wayans creates a memorable character that brings lots of laughs, and then a story that takes comedic advantage of that character is built around him. Wayans is a good comedian with great timing/expressions. Bilko is just a ham sandwich with a cheesy wilted storyline. There are many funny bits in MP, and well directed enough to warrant another watch down the road. With the right script, I would enjoy another go around with the Major Payne character.

Product & Service Review
Added 10/12/2009

The movie came just as described, used but in like-new condition. The service though was not top of the line. It took a long time to arrive and it was just inserted into a cheap, thin envelope with no padding. I was really lucky it didn't break. Liked the product but not the service.

Great Movie - Great Price
Added 8/8/2009

I absolutely love this movie, and it's one of my favorites. I had lost the previous copy that I owned, and I just had to have another. I wanted to buy a movie that was selling for a good price, but was also in a good condition, and that's what I found.

Outrageously Goofy Superhero Comedy!
Added 8/5/2008

Damon Wayans is Darryl Walker, a childlike inventor who is sick of the crime plaguing his neighborhood. When it takes the life of the grandmother who raised him and his brother Kevin (David Alan Grier), Darryl takes inspiration from their childhood hero, Batman, and becomes the most under-funded superhero ever, Blankman! Equipped with bulletproof underwear and a collection of odd inventions made from recycled junk, Blankman takes a stand against crime and woos lovely reporter Kimberly Jonz (Robin Givens), Kevin soon joining up as his reluctant sidekick, Other Guy. Together, the pair does battle with the city's evil crime boss, Michael "The Suit" Minelli (Jon Polito). Jason Alexander co-stars as Kevin's seedy boss, Mr. Stone.

For anyone who grew up with the campy 1960's Batman as one of their big heroes, this movie is a must-see! Loaded with laughs, mostly thanks to goofy Darryl's attempts to be a superhero while screaming like a girl and working with no budget at all, this one's got some heart too. It's not a parody the likes of "Superhero Movie", and if you're going into it with that idea, you won't get it. It's a real superhero movie all its own. The cast is great, and this is Damon Wayans at his best. The DVD is nothing special, but at least gives us a widescreen version that looks great (full-screen on the flipside), and it also comes with the trailer and trailers for "So I Married an Axe Murderer" and "The Pest". And if you like movies like "Blankman" and the "Ace Ventura" flicks, which really let those two "In Living Color" comedians (Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey) loose to do what they do best, I recommend John Leguizamo's "The Pest" as well. Unlike "Blankman", it's a terrible movie, but it's loads of fun!

This movie is priceless.
A "B movie" for sure.
Young Damon Waynes is hilarious.
The sound track is early nineties and it's hilarious.
The characters and actors are great.

I know a lot of people will hate this movie but it's truly got a lot of finer qualities that can be overlooked by snobs.
