Fabulous Kiefer
Added 4/20/2007
For anyone who likes Kiefer Sutherland this movie is a must to own. I was not only impressed with his character but equally impressed with his dirceting of this film. Actually, I feel this is one the best rolls I have seen him perform.

A Good Movie With Some Great Music
Added 9/1/2006
Jude Cole's beautiful song Heaven's Last Attempt plays perfectly to the opening scene. Other great music by The Outlaws, Van Morrison, Vibrolush and The Allman Bros. to name a few. The movie itself doesn't always work though just to see the always great Kiefer Sutherland as "Curtis" let loose in a wild, drug-fueled dance to Foghat's Cheteau Lafitte '59 Boogie would make it worth viewing. Fortunatly Kiefer delivers more than just a dance. Though Curtis is a sociopath, you can't help but like him because of the perfectly delivered comedic moments that Kiefer gives him. Vincent Gallo, Kim Dickens and Kevin Pollak are all great as well.

Cut this Movie Some Slack
Added 7/22/2006
Kiefer Sutherland (TV's "24") made his directorial debut with this crime film starring Vincent Gallo ('Buffalo 66' & 'The Brown Bunny'), Kim Dickens ('Palookaville' & 'Hollow Man'), Sutherland, Martin Sheen ('Apocalypse Now'), and Kevin Pollak ('The Whole Nine Yards'). The only reason I found out about this movie was because it starred Gallo (who wrote & directed Buffalo 66, one of my favorite movies) and he's a pretty good and underrated actor. In this film, Gallo plays Raymond; a petty criminal who we meet as he's getting out of prison. Next he's in a diner with his girlfriend Addy (Dickens), Curtis (Kiefer Sutherland, who plays these psychotic criminal roles perfectly), and Marcus (Mykelti Williams). The gang are planning to bust into a drug deal and take the drugs to sell themselves, but things go bad when they shoot an undercover cop. Now they're on the run from the cops and running out of options, so they take a young couple named Gordon and Donna (Pollak and Grace Phillips) hostage. After they kill a mob boss, hell is unleashed in the form of Sir (Sheen) an assassin guy for the mob. It's a weird movie that could easily be compared to a film called
"Harley Davidson & the Marlboro Man." Both are crime movies and both have strange events occur, both films have the same mood...But, for the record, this movie is a lot better. Sutherland's directorial debut definitely has a first film-feel to it, it's no masterpiece. But it is an entertaining, intelligent, and well-acted movie that deserves more credit than some people give it. Gallo is a scene-stealer and the charisma with Dickens (who he also worked with on "Palookaville") is perfect. Kevin Pollak and Grace Phillips add some comedic relief to the story; Especially Pollak, who plays straight-shooting guy who's fascinated with the crooks. There's also a plot twist involving one of the main characters that could've worked nicely but is revealed way to early. Overall, 'Truth or Consequences, N.M.' is a film that can easily fill in an hour and a half of your night in better ways than some other movies can.
