Plot: In this science-fiction thriller set in the very near future, DNA cloning has been perfected and has become an accepted part of everyday life -- cattle and fish are cloned for sale at the market, genetically engineered fruit and vegetables are found in most family's kitchens (nacho-flavored bananas, anyone?), and if your pet dies, you can even order a cloned replacement. But laws have been passed that strictly forbid the cloning of human beings. However, helicopter pilot Adam Gibson (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who believes people should live and die the old-fashioned way, discovers that someone has been violating these regulations. After Adam luckily avoids being on a copter that crashes, he comes home to discover someone has duplicated him. Now Adam is on a mission to find out who cloned him and why, as he struggles to take back his life from a scientifically created impostor, his boss Michael Drucker (Tony Goldwyn), and a pair of thugs (Sarah Wynter and Rod Rowland) who have been cloned into near-indestructibility. The 6th Day also stars Robert Duvall as cloning expert Griffin Weir, Michael Rooker as Drucker's right-hand man Robert Marshall, and Michael Rapaport as Adam's partner, Hank Morgan. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Mostly for XFL fans...One Liners help, like Commando, but not quite enough

Another of 'Arnuld's' thick, lispy
heavily Austrian accented Sci-Fi
flicks that takes a stab at more
Pro-Evolution gibberish. Note that
this movie was made in 2000, it already
was gabbering about the upcoming (flop)
XFL. A good cast is sort of wasted in
this coputer generated film. Humour
helps but like Commando, not enough.
Still I can't believe this Masonic
clown became 'The Gov.' of California.
But then, it is the land of fruits and
nut(z)ies...

To Clone Or Not To Clone
Added 5/6/2009

A good movie with very sharp visuals and excellent surround sound, this was another entertaining Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle. The action isn't overdone and the humor is subtle. It also looks super on Blu-Ray. You can't say that on every high-def disc, but this is a good one (and at a good price.)

"To clone human beings or not to clone" is the question here and the topic of the movie. For one of the few times in film history, Hollywood actually gives the right moral message.

The film, however, succumbs at the ending action to the typical "Rambo mentality," where the good guys couldn't hit if they threw an H-bomb at them. However, most of the action scenes in the film are well-done.
Arnold's thick accent doesn't lend credibility to his particular role here but the villains in here are all effectively portrayed.

On his way out...

The later films schwarzenneger made towards the end of his acting career prior to becoming Governor of California werent too bad, I mean they were no Terminator or Predator, but they were watchable. The 6th day had some great effects and action and some kind of moral story about the dangers of human cloning in the future, but again pretty mediocre. As i've said before in prior Arnold movie reviews if you're a Schwarzenneger fan as i am and want to complete your Arnold collection, get it, if not you can do better for your money....or worse, lol.

Hero with a heart
Added 2/4/2009

"The 6th Day" is worth owning. It's a great non-stop action sci-fi thriller. Arnold is convincing as a hero with a heart. He loves his family and will go to any lengths to keep them. If you like movies about cloning, this film is a definite must see.

With permission of who?

"Sixth day" is an engaging filmic project that deals with one of the several ethical consequences about the process of falsifying identities through the cloning process.

Through a very dark beginning a simple man realizes how his life changes and transforms when he has been cloned without his consent.

A very dynamic set of events will lead to a satisfactory end. An entertained film and nothing else.
