Plot: The Jonas Brothers star in this Disney Channel Original Movie about a working class girl determined to refine her musical talent at an acclaimed summer workshop, and the newfound sense of confidence she gains after meeting the singer of a popular musical act. Camp Rock is the place where young musicians go to grow into talented musicians. Mitchie Torres has always dreamt of spending a summer at Camp Rock, but her family can't afford the tuition costs. When Mitchie's mother announces that she got her daughter a discount on tuition by agreeing to work as the camp cook, the young musician is overjoyed at the prospect of actually attending Camp Rock. Though at first intimidated by the more privileged campers, Mitchie soon strikes up a friendship with the decidedly down-to-earth Caitlyn, who dreams of some day becoming a music producer. Later, Mitchie tries to impress popular girls Tess, Peggy, and Ella by claiming that her mother is a powerful executive at Hot Tunes TV, a tall tale that ultimately gets her invited to sing back up for the catty clique. Meanwhile, Connect 3's summer tour has been cancelled, and lead singer Shane Gray seems to have lost his passion for music. His bandmates Jason and Nate think that a stint in Camp Rock would be the perfect thing to help the singer get his ego back in check, and soon after arriving Shane is captivated by Mitchie's voice. Unlike the other campers, Mitchie seems to genuinely appreciate Shane's creativity rather than simply fawning over his stardom, and it before long the pair has become fast friends. But Tess is jealous of Mitchie and Shane's budding friendship, and upon discovering the truth about the humble singer's mother, the scheming mean girl makes it her mission to get ensure that neither Mitchie nor Caitlyn perform at the upcoming Final Jam competition. Later, as Shane, Nate, and Jason take their seats on the judge's panel for the Final Jam, Mitchie attempts to overcome her fear, step into the spotlight, and show everyone her true talent. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

High School Musical meets camp = Camp Rock

After listening to "This is Me" on You Tube I just had to see the movie. I absolutely love Demi Lovato, the Jonas Brothers...? Not so much! Demi is an amazing actress, Nick Jonas is OK, Joe is a better actor, but Kevin, the older brother, eeww! NO ACTING SKILLS! I think the Jonas Brothers are very over rated and their music, voice and acting sucks! Demi however, is amazing at both. This is kind of like High School Musical meets camp. You'll love it!

I can't help it. I'm almost 20 years old and am addicted to Disney movies. Maybe I need an intervention? Anyways, i saw it on TV and put songs from it on my Zune, and I still can't get enough of it. It's catchy and fun, and it tells the truth about trying to fit in as a teenager(and of course how lying about who you are will bite you in the butt). Demi Lovato is a really great actress, and she sure has a set of pipes on her (man she can sing!!). It's also good acting from the Jonas Brothers (haha i would never picture Joe being a jerk) Its a fun movie for all ages and the words to the songs (well Demi's songs, Meaghan's are all a bout how amazing she is) have a good message behind them!

Mean-spirited flick

"Camp Rock" is more like "Camp Crude." I hoped it would channel some of the energy and zest of High School Musical, but it was HSM's weak, mean-spirited shadow and lacked the Disney touch. A few examples: When the heroine reveals that she lied by glamorizing her parents to fit in, she never apologizes to the group she's deceived, no one steps forward to reassure her that bucks and bling aren't what's really important, and her Mom doesn't mind at all that her daughter is blisteringly ashamed of their family. Kids repeatedly call each other "jerk." The bad girl is shallow and just plain mean, with none of the comic genius that Ashley Tisdale brought to the parallel role in HSM.

The big dance numbers that played so well in HSM's expansive cafeteria and hallway scenes are here dampened by the confines of low-roofed camp mess halls, and there's not a song you'll be singing the next day.

With so many better movies out there, this is one you don't need to own.

I am a nine year old girl (eight at the time I watched it) and LOVED camp rock. This movie made Demi Lovato singer\actress famous. It also stars Joe Jonas (played as Shane Grey.) I absloutley LOVE the Jonas Brothers+Demi Lovato. The music is cool, but they break into song too much. The bad thing is it is kinda short, but I have soundtrack. No DVD though. *sigh*
