The best bluegrass disc I own
Added 10/19/2009
Discovered this group a few years ago, and because they impressed me so, I now have virtually all of their discs.

Alison Krause and Union Station Live
Added 7/28/2009
Alison Krause and Union Station Live is a must have for any music cd/dvd collection. Talent is talent and everyone in this group is loaded with talent. Though many will purchase it for the fine version of a Man of Constant Sorrow featuring Dan Timinski for the movie Brother Where Art Thou they will soon find this song in 4th or 5th place behind other favorites on this collection. There is not a bad song on this cd/dvd. The group has a presence that can appreciated by everyone. The group is talented, funny, humble and respectful of the success they have acheived. Alison has the voice of an angel, its simply mesmerizing. The DVD is exceptional as the filming was done in a beautiful theater apparently by people who knew what they were doing.

Alison Kraus & Union Station DVD Live

It was even better than the CD. The interviews were fun to watch, as was the live show. Almost as good as being at the concert.

Very well played and recorded.
Added 5/3/2009
I just got into American bluegrass and I wanted to hear and see this ensemble, to learn from the masters, you know...
The *double* DVD package contains the concert, insights about life on the bus - some funny moments - photos, and interviews.
The concert is very well played, and that was expected, but it is also well recorded in high definition and digital surround; the director made a terrific job being balanced between individual shots and mid-wide-field framings, the atmosphere of the theatre is totally kept in the recording.
The photos and credits booklet is minimal, but plenty of footage can be found in the 2nd DVD.
This is definitely one of the best DVD concerts I ever purchased.

Nouveau Bluegrass
Added 3/22/2009
Outstanding style of bluegrass--I call it nouveau bluegrass. Alison's voice is so perfect in this production and her entire team is so very talented. They could each split and be successful doing their own thing but they make absolutely beautiful music together. Dan Tyminski will go down in bluegrass history with his piece "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow". Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, and Barry Bales are all talents in their own right. Can't get enough of this DVD where it is three times more impactful than just a CD.
