Disappointed
Added 8/9/2008

I own the original Tae Bo Basic & Advanced series and have been very happy with the results/format. I purchased this DVD used (without the Billy Band) but had my own band with handles and was very disappointed in the workout/format with the bands. The bonus workout was good but overall I would not recommend this DVD. I like the 10 Minute Solution Tone Trouble Zones.

Now we are talking...those wicked bands will kill you. can also be substituted with weights. This BURNS. you have to do your cardio before doing this because 80% of the routine are all for the arms. 20$ were kicks and mat work.
then at the end there is a 10 minutes just pumping weights.
you will feel the change within a week. it's refreshing too, that after collections of billy blanks to have one his assistants leading the work-out.
This would have been almost perfect if not for....don't get me wrong, i have no complaints with the routine but I agree with the comments that there is a lot of shouting and squirming in pain in here. I find them irritating. It feels like you are working out in hell.
Some of the crew do not have the correct posture.

Kicks My Butt
Added 2/3/2007

I am so tired of people commenting that a workout is "too hard", give me a break. What is the point of working out if you are not going to push yourself! On that note, this workout does just that. Wow, I am an at an advanced level and this workout totally kicks my butt, I love it! The workout definitely focuses more on strength moves, but does a great job of toning both the upper and lower body. Unlike the other review, if done correctly, the upper body movements will not hurt your neck, but you will feel it the next day. The lower body movements are great at targeting the butt and saddlebag area. I highly recommend this workout to anyone who is looking for a great total body work out!

Great upper and lower body strength workout!

I respectfully disagree with Chocolaterose. I do this workout a couple of times a week (with at least one rest day in between, of course). For the person used to working out with weights or resistance bands, this is a great, tough upper- and lower-body workout. I feel it in my arms, legs, and glutes after I'm done. I have been doing this workout for some time now and have never been injured. Beginners or anyone unsure about the difficulty should of course not go all out the first time (maybe forgo the use of the bands), and it is always good practice to watch first before attempting. As for JulieAnn leaving the workout in the middle: if you look closely, you will see her picking up pieces of her resistance band on her way out of the frame. I believe the band broke or came unscrewed in some way, and this is why she left. The new resistance bands are adjustable (a nice touch), and one should take care that they are properly tightened before and during use; the included band instructions mention as much. Again, this is a wonderful strength video for anyone who is ready to feel the burn with their resistance workout.

A decent beginners workout.

To the reviewer before me. The billy bands they're using are not easy, they make the workout even tougher! The grimaces on their faces is from their muscles getting a good, hard workout. The only people making the faces are the people using the billy bands. They're in great shape and that just means the billy bands are a challenge for them too. You don't have to exercise with the bands to get a good beginners cardio workout.

This is a nice workout for someone new to Tae Bo. In the dvd most of the people workout with billy bands but those are a real challenge if you're a beginner. There is a girl in the group who doesn't use the billy bands. Don't worry about them, you'll get a good workout without them or you can buy light weights if you feel you're up to it. I think this would be a great addition to your routine. Try doing it a few times a week and in no time you'll be able to get all the way through and you'll start seeing changes in your body within a few weeks. I certainly did.

Rock Solid Bruising
Added 9/29/2009

I've enjoyed working out with Mr. Blanks thus far, but the bands for this work out are ridiculous. I did the workout a week ago, and I still have clear bruising on my biceps. The bruises on my left arm look terrible. It looks like I've been beaten or something. And because of the location, it looks bad for my husband. It looks like he grabbed me really hard on my upper arms, which he would never do.

The workout is mediocre at parts while at other times it's pretty good. The second time I did this workout, I left the bands off and used hand weights instead. If you want a superb ab workout though, hit up P90X.

I would suggest this DVD if you are looking for a different ab routine than what you're already doing. It's great to toss in there to spice things up. But the first two DVD's for Billy's Boot Camp are much better than this one.

I'm been using Billy's products for 6 years and I love them. Using the bands with this product is cumbersome. It takes some getting used to. In fact I tried using the old black bands instead of the elite bands and it was still very cumbersome. The bands showed signs of wear after doing the workout a few times and I'm not sure if the workout caused the wear and tear or if this was an existing condition. In any event today I made some modification to the workout in that I used Billy's amped bar and some ankle weights. Wow the workout was great. The ankle weights really work the abs nicely. You can also try using hand grip weights instead of the amped bar. Based on making adjustments I would recommend the product. If you just want to use the bands then I cannot really recommend the workout. The workout without the use of any equipment would also be a waste of money.

Great Target Zone Workout!
Added 1/29/2009

I love this dvd! It's definitely challenging, but that's the point. With other workouts, I don't always feel the abs have been worked as hard as they should be - that's definitely not the case here. I don't love the bands, so use hand-held weights instead and it works just as well. Quick, visible results - I highly recommend it!
