Now this is a great gift to friends. Beautiful and full of facts. The Photography is fantastic. A must for people who don't know the waters of our Planet. Maybe they will see why we need to save it.

Superb contents but beware of SD (not HD) Blue Planet set

Very happy with the Planet Earth set. Everything as expected: HD with bonus feature at the end of each episode. However, rather disappointed with the Blue Planet series. Did not realize that this is just a SD DVD. Not only that, no subtitle. Watching it on my 58-in plasma TV is worse than on my old 36-in SD TV. This did not do justice to the amazing videography of the happenings in the ocean. Overall, superb contents on both series, highly recommend. But I skipped the 5th/last DVD of the Planet Earth set because it was just annoyingly preachy, more than my taste can tolerate. I recommend purchasing these 2 sets separately and make sure that both are HD, which I plan to re-purchase the Blue Planet series.

I purchased these DVD's for my wife's birthday. She is very happy with the clarity and closeness of the small species in the sea. The color is wonderful.

This is a visually stunning and extremely engaging piece of filming.
Very informative and able to keep the attention of young viewers as well as the interest of the adults. Definately recommend to anyone.

Wonderful Set of Beautiful DVDs

I can not begin to express what an amazing collection of outstanding videos the BBC has put together. Superb quality of picture and sound make this DVD set stand out among any documentaries that I have ever witnessed. I have traveled to mountains, canoed hundreds of miles down the Mississippi River, and seen some of the most beautiful things on this Earth... This is the next best thing for me. When I can't be out seeing things first hand, this collection has enough DVDs to keep anyone entertained for days on end.
Each DVD covers a new and interesting subject. Many things that I will never see up close, and yet- these videos create a feeling that you have seen it. What an awesome collection.
Obviously, I give this series a lot of praise and have given it 5 stars. It is expensive to some, but you get so much out of it - for any family too - that it is hard to resist. I recommend it to anyone and everyone except for tiny infants because of their lack of attention span and their limited capacity of and for English vocabulary.
On a personal note... When visiting my Grandfather, I brought along this set. He could not believe what he was seeing. He was taken aback and asked to borrow the rest. It really is something to see.

WOW.... AMAZING...

This is an AMAZING DVD set. When I watch it, I always think of the amount of man power it took to produce something like this. The educational value of this series is wonderful. This is something the whole family can watch and enjoy at the same time. I would totally recommend to any nature lovers out there. MUST GET!

Worth every penny!

Bought the set as a gift for my hubby and both of us love it. It's beautifully done and we are truly amazed. Among the four, we love planet earth the best! it all comes down to personal preference, but the set really is worth every penny. :)
