Plot: Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen presents snippets of the x-rated acts of a dozen stand-up comedians, filmed live on an evening in 1988 at New York's Minetta Lane Theater. Tim Allen and Chris Rock have since gone on to fame and fortune in TV and movies, and Jackie the Jokeman Martling is a member of radio star Howard Stern's troupe. The other performers, including Ben Creed, Thea Vidale, and John Fox, are likely to be unfamiliar to all but a handful of viewers. The film's producers maintain that these performers are legends on the regional comedy club circuit, but that the adult content of their material keeps them off cable comedy and talk shows. Based on what we see of their routines, it's obvious why. Not only is the humor almost entirely about sex, much of it seems intentionally calculated to offend. It should be reported that the audience eats it up. The film only has an 88 minute running time, so the comics rotate on and off stage at a rapid clip. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Great comedy acts. Two for the price of one. I especially liked Monte Hoffman.

Bad performances from great comedians
Added 10/6/2007

This is a really bad dvd. None of the comedians set the place alight at all. Tim Allen's performance is the pick of the bunch, even though it wasn't that good either. I found Chris Rock's material to be very weak for a guy that I consider to be the funniest comedian of all time. He has surely come a long way. Bill Hicks is his usual animated and unfunny self. This was a waste of time and money.

You all talk about Bill Hicks. Yeah, he's great, but what about Otto & George? The best on the show!

These Comedians Suck
Added 1/11/2005

I rented this DVD because I am a big Bill Hicks fan. I figured if hes on it, it can't be that bad. I watched the whole thing, and it was awful. Seeing Tim Allen was kind of fun, but the rest, besides Bill hicks where very bad. Seriously, if your a Bill Hicks fan interested in this DVD, don't bother he just does about 10-15 minutes of stand up. The only thing worse than "Comedy's Dirtiest Dozen" was the "Heavy Weights of Comedy" part. This was just some Obese men and women coming out and making fat jokes about themselves. This was awful, don't bother.

Funniest Stands Up's I've Seen
Added 5/30/2004

This is the funniest collection of stand up comedians ive ever seen. I'm sure glad this has been put onto DVD. It is a show i consider almost like a bible in my comedy collection!

with great performances by a young Chris Rock, and a just before Home Improvement stardom, Tim Allen, as well as John Fox, Joey Gaynor, Bill Hicks, Stephanie Hodge, Monty Hoffman, Otto and George, Steve Pearl, Larry Scanaro, Thea Vidale, and the funny man of the Howard Stern show Jackie "the joke man" Martling.

Ive had this show for years on VHS, and this DVD includes another show called "the heavy weights of comedy" which really was not at all funny to me, I got a couple of chuckles out of it, but I wont be watching that ever again I don't think... tho, be the judge of that for yourself.

As long as your into a dirty sense of comedy, and don't take offense to things, and can stand a lot of rude & crude gestures and foul mouth, then you should find this great show as funny as I did!

A lot of the acts on this stand up show went on to do television and movies, and some, well, they should have there own T.V show. I'd love to see Otto & George get the break they deserve and have there own TV show, maybe bring back the Howdy Doody Show with them and make early morning TV fun for the adults for a change.

You may have seen Monty Hoffman on a few TV shows here and there in small roles, recently seeing him on Get Smart (the 90s continuation) was interesting as I tried to think of where the hell I saw that guy before, then it hit me, Comedys Dirtiest Dozen!!!

For the price this thing costs, whatta ya got to lose huh? Check it out, ya can't possibly not laugh unless your just stuck up or a snob.
