Plot: Oceanic wise guys meet up with a small fish who has a big attitude in this computer-animated comedy. Don Lino (voice of Robert De Niro) is the patriarch of a family of sharks who lord over a bustling aquatic community based along a massive underwater reef. Don Lino has two sons, Frankie (voice of Michael Imperioli) and Lenny (voice of Jack Black); Frankie is a carnivorous tough guy who takes after his father, but Lenny is, at heart, a kind soul who has earned the ire of his dad by becoming a vegetarian. One of Don Lino's cronies is Sykes (voice of Martin Scorsese), who runs a whale wash where Oscar (voice of Will Smith) scrubs aquatic mammals for a living. Oscar is a small but ambitious fish who dreams of making something of himself, and when a dropped anchor accidentally kills Frankie, Oscar is suddenly (if mistakenly) celebrated as the shark killer. Oscar's overnight fame attracts the attentions of Lola (voice of Angelina Jolie), a slinky dragon fish who woos Oscar away from his steady date, Angie (voice of Renée Zellweger); however, Oscar strikes up a friendship with Lenny and has to decide what to do when Don Lino and Sykes decides it's time to take care of the different shark. Also popping up in Shark Tale's all-star voice cast are Peter Falk, Vincent Pastore, Ziggy Marley, and Katie Couric. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

WHA???!!!
Added 10/10/2009

Well, Shark Tale isn't as horrible as Barnyard, but it's still REALLY bad. The jokes never succeeded in making me laugh, the celebrity voices were distracting and very unnecessary, and the movie itself is tedious. And I mean TEDIOUS! I almost couldn't take it anymore. A Troll in Central Park had something more interesting than this, and that's really saying something. And oh boy, you'll be begging for all these characters to go away. They're as annoying and uninteresting as the ones you find in the ever-dreadful Disney Channel. I give credit for the film's decent 3D animation, though; that was the one that avoided me from completely hating this movie. But yeah, I'm sure the kids will love this. But when it comes to teenagers and adults, this will be a devastating disappointment. Just rent it if you're in the mood for some good 3D animation.

Good storyline, nice animation and some good voice-acting there isn't enough I can say aboutn this movie, just that it is on par with some other great animated films like madagasgar, shrek and ice age. if you know what's good for you BUY THIS DVD!! I rarley watch movies more than once, needless to say; I have watched this movie several times and enjoyed it each time.

Junk....

Just an all around bad film that I really don't feel is appropriate for kids. As others have noted, the racial stereotypes are about as bad as you can get, the kids in the film get praised for their grafiti, there is a lot of 'product placement', and finally the story isn't worth talking about.

A Tall Tale
Added 3/9/2009

Shark Tale is one hour and thirty minutes long and was released on October 1, 2004. Shark Tale tells the story of Oscar (voice by Will Smith) who dreams of being somebody, but in real life is nothing than a loser, dreamer of get rich schemes, and tongue scrubber at the Whale Wash. One day Oscar is called into the office Sykes (his boss) and Sykes wants the 5,000 clams he owes him so Sykes can pay protection money to Don Lino (a great white shark). Angie (voiced by Renee Zellweger) gives Oscar a pink pearl so he can sell it and repay Sykes. Oscar uses the money to bet on a sea horse and when the sea horse loses, Sykes orders Bernie and Ernie (a couple of jellyfishes) to take Oscar to the Wasteland and dispose of him. Bernie and Ernie are soon frightened away by a pair of sharks. Frankie is trying to turn Lenny into a mean killer shark. They spot Oscar tied up and Frankie orders Lenny to eat Oscar. Lenny swims over there and frees Oscar and when Frankie finds out, he swims over there to do it himself. While swimming over there an anchor lands on Frankie and kills him. Lenny swims away in grief and when Bernie and Ernie return, Oscar tells them a lie that he killed the shark. Oscar soon become a local hero and becomes somebody. He finds out that it is not really the life he dream about and wises up to tell Angie that he loves her. Angie is kidnapped by the shark mob and Oscar, Lenny, and Sykes must rescue her. In the end he tells the truth that he is not a shark killer and tells Angie that he loves her. The computer animation in Shark Tale is great.
