Plot: A serial dater afflicted with a lifelong curse of loneliness attempts to win the love of a clumsy but beautiful penguin expert in the one romantic comedy that proves true love never comes easy. As a ten-year-old boy, Charlie (Dane Cook), breaks the cardinal rule of spin-the-bottle by refusing to kiss a demented goth girl. Crushed by the disheartening snub and determined to ensure that Charlie never finds true love, the vengeful brooder places a hex on the cowardly rule breaker that follows him well into his adult life. Flash-forward 20 years, and Charlie is a successful dentist who just can't seem to maintain a stable relationship. Sure he's had his fair share of one-night stands, but these days Charlie is just looking to find a nice girl he can settle down with. One day, while attending an ex-girlfriend's wedding, Charlie realizes that every girl he has ever dated has proceeded to find true love with the very next man they've met. When word gets out that Charlie is something of a lucky charm for women looking to tie the knot, every women within a 100-mile radius comes calling for a one-night stand; and while taking a bevy of beauties to bed is fun for the time being, it doesn't take long for Charlie to realize just how empty sex can be without true love. Upon meeting hard-to-get aquatic bird specialist Cam (Jessica Alba), Charlie begins to suspect that he has found the woman of his dreams. Cam is the kind of woman whom Charlie would be happy to grow old with, but what will come of their relationship if Charlie and Cam sleep together? Now, in order to ensure that Cam doesn't end up with the next guy she meets, Charlie will finally attempt to break the curse that has plagued him since childhood. Perhaps with a little help from smooth-talking ladies' man and sympathetic best friend Stu (Dan Fogler), Charlie will finally be able to experience true happiness. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Lame movie
Added 9/29/2009

The problem with this movie and, I think, other Dane Cook movies, is that the character he plays are absolutely unsympathetic and without redeeming moral quality. Even after he "learns" his lesson or does whatever it is he does that makes it possible for him to get the girl, he is still not a likeable character. There is a limit to how much an audience can relate to someone who acts poorly all the time. Moreover, this a one joke movie.

Movies this bad only reinforce that even vulgar comedies, which can be quite funny, live or die by their writing. A poor script makes for a poor movie, even if it does have Jessica Alba in it.

Good Funny Pick

Good Luck Chuck is a good romantic comedy (I know, it was hard for me to believe) movie. Jessica Alba is sooooo HOT! and Dane Cook does a good job acting in this movie. Good Luck Chuck is about a man and the myth that if he sleeps with someone, the next person they meet is their true love. It has some really funny scenes between Chuck and his best friend who is a complete pervert. This is a good movie it is funny, well written, and clever.

Should be called, "Dane Cook makes a porno"

This movie was not funny, was not interesting and had too much gratuitous sex. I won't even honor this movie by calling it a chick flick as it was awful.

I've Seen Better.

I went movie shopping at WAL-MART and this was one of the movies. I watched this movie, and I thought it was better than a lot of movies I seen, but not the best. it's an ok movie, with good but what was the point in it? It wasn't a horrible movie but good thing this movie was only $7.50 cause I would have never spent more on it.

A funny concept, but execution is flawed

Did they have to film Jessica Simpson in brief snippets because her acting skills are all but nil? She displays almost no ability to emote here, and appears to have but one speed at most. Still, they get the details almost correct of what it must be like to work at a Sam's Club-like superstore where perfection leads to the meaningless title of employee of the month, or in this case, the winner of a perfectly dull almost new Chevy Malibu or some such. The action flags severely in the middle, but this has some nice moments. Actually kind of funny for a comedy.

An Underated Comic Masterpiece
Added 6/11/2009

There aren't many movies that I find this funny, and this is one my favorites. A very clever script with cute humor and funny visuals that parody big budget pictures. The actors are fantastic.

The movie is about a microcosm of society inside a big super store. The pecking order goes something like this: 1. Store manager on top, 2. Checkout clerks, and 3. Box boys (the bottom feeders). The lead checkout person is the alpha male in the store. He has been the uncontested "Employee of the Month" so many times, he is only one month away from winning a grand prize car with "pleather" (better than leather). But, not so fast! - "Alpha" meets his match in the form of a box boy nemesis! "Box Boy" wants the EOM award, so that he, too, can get into the checker's lounge. Lacking the status to get into the checker's lounge, the bottom feeders make do with a secret makeshift lounge they've built amongst stacks of boxes.

Very funny and good natured.
