Plot: A woman finds herself attempting to foil one office romance while debating if she should take a chance on another in this romantic comedy. Lucy Kelton (Sandra Bullock) is a top-flight attorney who has risen to the position of Chief Legal Counsel for one of New York's leading commercial real estate firms, the Wade Corporation. However, Lucy's job has one significant drawback -- George Wade (Hugh Grant), the eccentric and remarkably self-centered head of the firm. George seems entirely incapable of making a decision without Lucy's advice, whether it actually involves a legal matter or not, and while she's fond of George, being at his beck and call 24 hours a day has brought her to the end of her rope. In a moment of anger, Lucy gives her two weeks notice, and George reluctantly accepts, under one condition -- Lucy has to hire her own replacement. After extensive research, Lucy picks June Carter (Alicia Witt), a Harvard Law graduate determined to make a career for herself. Lucy soon begins to suspect, however, that June plans to hasten her rise up the corporate ladder by winning George's hand, leaving Lucy to wonder if she should warn George about his beautiful but calculating new attorney -- and whether she should tell George that she has finally realized she's in love with him. Two Weeks Notice was written and directed by Marc Lawrence, who had previously scripted two other box-office hits for Sandra Bullock: Miss Congeniality and Forces of Nature. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Decent, but typical

This is a pretty decent romantic comedy. Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock create some genuinely funny moments and touching acting. It'll work well for an date with your significant other or if you just want to lift your mood.

Unfortunately, like many such films, this film isn't particularly exciting or original. It begins with the characters hating each other, then being forced into a situation where they work closely together, and then near the end of realizing they love each other. In fact, this movie follows the same narrative arc of Sandra Bullock's other romantic comedies, such as The Proposal. It lacks the spunk and freshness of a film like Miss Congeniality.

Another Cinderella romantic comedy

The actually chemistry between these two romantic comedy stars
is minimal: one doubts Sandra bullock saw anything in Hugh Grant?
The music in some cases is better than the dialog
( the piano singer at the charity event).
This movie is supposed to be opposites attract:
in real life these types of people would be murdering each other
if the poor type could get past the rich ones security guards?
What is amazing is this "formula" film is actually popular
with innocent idealistic girls?

Paint-by-numbers but funny

The Bottom Line:

It's a shame that Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock are wasting their talents here on a formulaic and cliched screenplay, for they generate a good amount of chemistry and humor in their interactions as a billionaire and lawyer forced together by loads of contrivance; I can't say that I didn't enjoy watching Two Weeks Notice, but it still saddens me that the film had the capacity to be something noteworthy and ended up as a mild diversion.
