Plot: The serialized story structure and barbed social commentary from comic book creator and co-writer Frank Miller earned critical respect in this satirical science fiction sequel directed by Irvin Kershner. Peter Weller returns as RoboCop, a futuristic cyborg fashioned from cutting-edge technology and the biological remains of slain Detroit police officer, Alex Murphy. Still patrolling the city streets, RoboCop is scheduled by his creator, Omni Consumer Products, to be replaced by a new superior model, RoboCop 2, that according to designer Juliette Faxx (Belinda Bauer), will contain the human remains not of a cop but a criminal. In the meantime, an instantly addictive drug called Nuke is sweeping through Detroit thanks to a kingpin named Cain (Tom Noonan). Taking Cain to task, RoboCop is captured and dismantled. When he's put back together, the cyborg is reprogrammed with a series of socially conscious commands (in a sly mocking of the then relatively new concept of political correctness) that render him impotent as a law enforcer. Taking charge by rewiring himself with an electrical overload, RoboCop arrests Cain, who is injured in the process. Faxx secretly takes Cain's brain and inserts it into RoboCop 2, turning the robot immediately into a law-breaking murder machine and leading to a violent showdown between two generations of robotic crime-fighters. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Filmed in Houston
Added 6/13/2009

This city really does stand in for Detroit, where the film takes place. Some of the recognizable landmarks in the film were The Wortham Center & The GRB Convention Center(Posing as The Civic Centrum), The Alley Theatre, The Fourth Ward Area, & The East End(Near The Ship Channel). Houston has been called one of the most popular places to shoot movies, and it really does pump more money to our Economy. With that said, The Downtown skyline happens to be the main star of this movie.

Made for TV quality RoboCop
Added 6/3/2009

This is one of a series of 4 RoboCop movies made for TV. The effects / story are a bit sub par compared to the three original movies, but RoboCop fans will enjoy them nonetheless.

I heartily recommend these DVDs being a RoboCop fan myself.

Weller/Allen return Ivan Kershner directs this time 7/10 underrated gem
Added 5/6/2009

This film took a darker root. This had Tom Noonan play an evil son of a b***h he shoots a woman scared out of her mind kills her he and his cult members dismantle Robo and then kill a cop who is an inside man for telling Robo where his hideout is at. When he's killed by Robo his brain is then used for Robocop 2 by Dr. Julia Faxx she's a b***h big time. She's played by Belinda Bauer. The Old man always defends her. While everybody else in OCP hates her. Cain as R2 kills his own girlfriend Also kills Hob a 14 year old kid who is a A HOLE he's played by Gaberial Damon. You know he hides behind the fact he's under age and he tells Robo can't shoot kids can you F**KER. He also takes over the NUKE business when Cain is taken out. But in the scene where he is dying Robo shows compassion. I think he didn't want help becuse his old family was terrible or they abused him you kinda feel sorry for him R2 turns out be a nightmare for OCP. But the mayor was right about OCP at the beginning of Robocop 3.R2 is underrated.
