Plot: Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern play a pair of lovers on the run in David Lynch's surrealist road movie Wild at Heart. Cage's Sailor Ripley is a violent ex-convict with an Elvis Presley fixation who falls in love with Dern's Lula Pace Fortune, the daughter of a rich, but mentally unstable, Southern belle named Marietta (Diane Ladd, Dern's real-life mother). Just after Sailor is released from prison, where he was jailed for brutally killing one of Marietta's thugs, he and Lula take off on a wild cross-country trip, pursued by his parole officer, her mother, criminals, bounty hunters, and detectives. Along the way, Sailor and Lula have a lot of sex, share their pasts, share their respective obsessions for Elvis and The Wizard of Oz, and meet a lot of bizarre characters, including a seedy ex-marine (Willem Dafoe) who persuades Sailor to participate in a bank robbery. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Movie Guide

Wildly Delivered

Kudos for delivering the item so quickly. :D
The dvd was in good condition, and even shrink wrapped when I got it (which confused me...) but very good to go with this company!

There's No Place Like Home...

Sailor Ripley (Nicolas Cage from 8MM) is a convicted Murderer... er, I mean "manslaughterer" on parole. He decides to hit the road w/ his blazingly hot gal, Lula Pace (Laura Dern from Blue Velvet and Inland Empire), and head for California. The two young lovers are pursued by the various minions of Lula's unbalanced mother, Marietta Fortune (Diane Ladd), who only wants to kill Sailor at any cost. WILD AT HEART is really a brilliant, crackpot romantic comedy, David Lynch-style. It is loaded w/ cheezy dialogue, oddball characters, and just plain fun! Of course, there is a bit of the old ultra-violence and copious nooodity as well. Lynch proves w/ WAH that he hasn't lost the wicked sense of humour that made ERASERHEAD such a dark treasure, while giving us the perfect, wacky alternative to BLUE VELVET. Not a Good Lynch
Added 2/17/2009

Don't dare to compare this with any other Lynch's works, otherwise you'll be very dissapointed.
The movie spends too much time dealing with the couple's tedious and boring relationship, and simply throws in the garbage what might have been some serious good scenes among J. E. Freeman, Isabella Rosselini, Willem Dafoe and Harry Dean Stanton.
Diane Ladd delivers an annoying robotic performance, and Laura Dern and Cage just look and sound ridiculous.
Lynch made some powerful films, filled with lots of subliminar languages and unforgetable images that reminds us crazy dark dreams.
If you don't know what I'm talking about and really like a romantic drama mood, give it a try.

Guess I'm confused
Added 1/23/2009

I'm noticing most of the reviews are rave. The first time I saw this movie was on TV with all of the sex and a great deal of the violence cut out. It didn't really make much sense to me at the time. I saw it in it's entirety today, and it didn't make me any less confused. I thought this entire thing was played for camp, but people are actually looking at this as a serious film. I'm not really familiar with David Lynch. Maybe that's the problem. I think it's one of the worst things I've ever seen Nicolas Cage do, and Diane Ladd and Laura Dern, where were their minds when they agreed to do this? Sorry folks.
