Plot: You have the right to remain silent . . . Forever! This sequel to Maniac Cop pits Matt Cordell (Robert Z'dar), the crazed, murderous Maniac Cop of the first film (now horribly disfigured after a particularly brutal stay in prison), and Turkel (Leo Rossi), a serial killer who likes to murder strippers, against a frenzied NYPD detective, Sean McKinney (Robert Davi), who is just one step ahead of a nervous breakdown. His nerves don't get much relief when officers Jack Forrest (Bruce Campbell) and Teresa Mallory (Laurene Landon) insist that Cordell is still alive -- not only alive, but unkillable. Then Jack is murdered and the silent Maniac Cop breaks Turkel out of jail. With a group of rancid prisoners, they take police department psychologist Susan Riley (Claudia Christian) hostage. When the prisoners attempt a massive prison break, McKinney musters his forces to hunt down Cordell and Turkel and save Susan. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Amazon does not have this movie listed as being available on DVD, but here in Australia it is! (Regioun 4)

I had seen this years ago, but it was a rental on VHS that was overly worn out and the picture & sound was so bad I turned it off halfway through.

When I saw this DVD in the really cheap bin ($3, hows that for cheap?) I thought i'd give it a go, it would only be pocket change i'd lose anyway.

Review:
I expected this to be a bad b-grade horror flick, but I really got into it straight away. It's about a cop named Matt Cordell who was a cop with the NYPD who was setup for something by the head cheif of police or something, and i'm not actualy too sure if he is supposed to be dead, or just scarred or what, but he seems to be a Jason Voorhees style zombie who can't be killed.

Matt Cordell is terrorising the city by killing cops. I guess it's his way of revenge against them or something. Along the way he meets a seriol killer who keeps murdering strippers and they become a forgetable duo.

Comments: A lot of the events taking place where a bit confusing, I guess I will have to see the original Maniac Cop to fully understand what the flash backs are about and in what order, but neither MC1 or MC3 are available here yet.

This is a sequel, and i'm already taking an interest in this saga. It's not brilliant, not exactly original, and the ending of Cordells (supposed) demise I thought was a bit too quick and should have been drawn out with a tighter and bigger ending, but overall, I like it.

If your into Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Myers or those type of charactors, then I recomend this film if you havent already seen it, just give it a go and see what you reckon. If your into thriller with a twist and creative plot, then this will not be your thing.

Bonus Features: None. Tho it does have the trailer to MC2, MC3 and Strange Bedfellows, but I do not consider trailers a bonus feature, they should just be standard on every DVD.

Me Cop II rocks and I cant wait to see the first and 3rd one now!

The best in the trilogy!

Maniac Cop 2 is the best in the whole trilogy! It has some really awesome action scenes and some funny one-liners from the murderer that Matt Cordell becomes friends with. The car chase mid-way through the movie was awesome and well thought out. Robert Z'dar gives an awesome and well played performance in his second go 'round as the Maniac Cop. If you're into action movies with a little bit of horror, then be sure to give this one a look!

Maniac Cop is back! But this time he has a playmate...
Added 8/26/2003

Matt Cordell rises from his watery grave and seeks revenge on those who killed him in the previous entry. He also causes trouble by killing cops and helping the criminals. And when he teams up with a homicidal serial killer, it's up to though cop Sean Mc Kinney and his partner Susan Riley to stop this murderous duo before it's to late.

A very entertaining and well acted movie. Better than you'd expect and well directed by William Lustig (Maniac, Uncle Sam)One of the film most memorable scenes is where Matt Cordell causes a massacre at a police station.
The Maniac Cop movies are very underated slashers in my opninion. So, if you like other slasher movie series such as Friday The 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play and Halloween, you should add Maniac Cop 1-3 to your collection as well.

Deadly dull and silly stuff.

Zombie cop is on the loose again. Yes, this sequel's "bigger" but man it's boring and silly. Some action, but hardly enough.
