Not happy with this purchase. To be fair, the video did not arrive for two weeks and was returned to the seller. I received an email saying that it would be resent. It was, and it arrived a few days later.

Unfortunately, the plastic on the VHS tape was broken. It fell apart as soon as I removed the VHS from it's cardboard packaging. Bottom line: seller got the item to me, but it's broken. I still don't have the movie to watch. Not happy

A GREAT MATCH-UP OF ACTORS/RESSES TO ROLES
Added 4/16/2009

This movies' strongest point is that the actors and actresses who portray the characters are so believeable in their roles. Scott Glenn does a masterful job as the bull-rider H.D., Ben Johnson couldn't be better as the aging dad who is beginning to fail, and is so fearful of spending his final days in an "old folks' home".

You empathize with H.D. as he struggles to keep his dad out of the nursing home, and you cheer for him as he painstakingly trains to ride the bull that if ridden would provide enough prize money to enable H.D. to realize his goal. The other actors and actresses who are intertwined in this movie are also masterful in their roles, including a true-to-life performance by the legendary Mickey Rooney.

To put it in plain, everyday terms, this is just a charming, feel-good movie........

Haven't we all wished that we could go back and make it all better? H.D., a not so great bull rider is hurting, physically and emotionally. He goes home to heal his busted ribs and learns that his sister has put his father (H.D.'s hero) in a home for old folks. H.D. can't abide it. He needs money to save the family homestead and all he knows is bull riding. The icing on the cake is that his beautiful highschool sweetheart is now a widow. The rodeo is coming to a town not too far from home. Can H.D. draw and ride the bull that's never been rode? Does he have one good 8 second ride left in him? Can he stop rodeoing from town to town? The top prize is $100,000! Enough to save the homestead and start a new life!
This is just a great movie for anyone that still dreams.

A lost classic!

I lived in Midwest City Oklahoma when this movie was bein' Made. I loved the movie from the start. It was true and down to earth. This movie inspired me to ride bulls myself and represent Rodeo all the time. I am sad to see that this movie is not only hard to find, but also not available in a DVD form like other classic movies. This makes no sense to me. I would like to see it done better justic than it has recieved.
