Plot: In this uneven teen comedy, an aspiring female high-school journalist assumes a fake male identity after her essay on just that subject -- a woman posing as a male jock -- is rejected in a contest. Miffed by what she assumes is a bias against her gender in the rejection of her essay, Terry (Joyce Hyser) dons the right garb, gets a new haircut, drops her voice down to a suitable male-sounding register and passes herself off as a guy (okay, not believably, but one is willing to go along with the conceit to see what happens). As she soon discovers, moments in the locker room and at phys ed classes can be harrowing, but worse yet, she becomes seriously enamored of Rick (Clayton Rohner) a quiet, good-looking guy who does not run with either the macho or preppie pack. How can she broach the subject of her real identity? Terry's friends have their own romantic interests, all of which are resolved at the high school prom. I was nostaligic so I got this movie--the price was very inexpensive. It's an OK movie, the acting is mediocre.

No Widescreen Version!

I ordered this movie 2 times and put Just One of the Guys WIDESCREEN in the subject line and both vendors sent it FULLSCREEN. I then find out there is no widescreen version. Had I known that I wouldn't have ordered it until a widescreen version came out! Very disappointing. One vendor said it says fullscreen in the description and yes that was right but I had the misconception that if I put WIDESCREEN in the search box the widescreen version would come up just like I have for other movies and I was wrong so I will keep the movie anf give it to someone that likes fullscreen. The one star is for the ordering procedure not following what version I ordered and not the movie.

Taking investigative reporting to a new level

This movie compliments my collection of classic eighties comedy films. It kind of takes you back to those funny school day dramas we all have as students in the classic American public school system. All in all great movie! Just One of the Guys is Just One of those movies I could not live without, although I would also like to see it available in widescreen format.

Cute movie. Cute girl.

This is a cute teen movie from the past. I remember really having the hots for Joyce Hyser back in the day. She looks totally hot in her bikini at the beginning and has a great body. I thought she was really good in the part and carries the movie. He brother, who looked like he could be her brother in real life was annoying as hell. The evil blond haired heel from Karate Kid is great as usual as the jock/jerk of the school. And the guy that plays Joyces love interest was always good. It was a cute little film with a cute story and a cute girl. Wish she would have done more.

Great movie, but only available in the edited full screen version. Films should be released how the artist originally shot it.
