Plot: This teen thriller by Richard Tuggle involves an innocent young man being mistaken for a drug dealer and thief by both the good and the bad guys. Daryl Cage (Anthony Michael Hall) sets off to visit his brother and sister-in-law in L.A. but picks up the wrong bag at the airport baggage claim -- one loaded with 10 kilos of heroin. Before Daryl has a chance to find out what's inside, murder and mayhem are unleashed and even the police take potshots at him. So he teams up with Dizz (Jenny Wright), a fellow passenger on his flight, and disguises himself as a street-wise but slick operator. Cage then dodges death at the hands of the sadistic Roy Gaddis (Jeff Kober) and tries to convince the police of his innocence. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

loveable geek Anthony Micheal Hall is fantastic in this action film with some other soon to be great stars such as Jenny wright ( forest gump, the crossing guard, near dark ) and meat loaf to name a few. great action suspense and great to see the geek get to be a real man for a change, and the villian adds the weight needed to make Anthony's ressurection from geek to street wise player

A suspenseful , heart pounding , film , "Out Of Bounds
Added 12/11/2000

(This film is one of them Young Adult films like "Breakfast Club" "Sixteen Candles" , "Reboman" , "St Elmos Fire") Out Of Bounds is an action packed suspenseful thriller , with shootout's , wild chases through town , and much more. The film revolves around Daryl Cage (Anthony Micheal Hall) , who leaves a hard working life on the farm and heads for L.A , to live a peaceful life with his older brother (Kevin McCorkle). But , a simple mistake is made when Daryl accidentally picks up a bag of heroine. His brother is brutally killed hours later by the owner of the drugs. Then , from that point on , there is lots of action as Daryl & Dizz (Jenny Wright) chase , and are chased by the drug dealer , Roy Gaddis (Jeff Kober). With a recognizable supporting cast of Ji Tu Cumbuka , Jerry Levine , Glenn Turman , and even an Cameo appearance by pop singer Meat Loaf , as Gil , a private pilot.I recommend this film to action , suspense , and teen film fans.

Typical 1980's teen comedy movie
Added 10/14/2009

2 of 5 stars to the 1980's typical teen comedy movie Johnny Be Good. To the movies credit, it has several young actors who turn out to be name-brand people. How about Uma Thurman? Robert Downey Jr? Anthony Michael Hall? So that was good.

The plot is about a high school football star who is trying to decide which college to attend. So, we follow AM Hall as his character visits several colleges who each roll-out the red carpet with VIP perks to get him to decide in their favor. The whole thing would be OK if you can possible believe that Hall COULD be a football star. My thinking is that on his first tackle, he'd be broken-up into little parts. He simply was not believeable as a star player.

So, the movie was mildly funny with the usual plot twists and gags. Nothing special to recommend this movie. As I said at the start, a typical 1980's style comedy. Oh, it had too much 1980's synthesized music--my head hurts.

You can skip this one.

Worst ever!
Added 11/18/2008

I'm a BIG Robert Downey Jr fan, but this has GOT to be one of the WORST movies I have ever seen... and poor Uma - 'Introducing Uma Therman...' How horrible for this to be your film debut. But, then again, I guess that gives her an excues. MAYBE, if I'd seen it back in the day... but even then, I doubt it. It just doesn't stand up against the Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, etc.

Good thing I got it Cheap!

Johnny Be Good
Added 5/24/2006

This movie is terrible. It's not funny. Anthony Michael Hall was not meant to play a cool jock. It just wasn't believable, especially after The Breakfast Club. This was Uma Thurman's first movie and she was very cute, but that's about the only positive thing i can say about this movie.

The premise behind the movie is alright. A star high-school quarterback finishing high school looking to go to college. He's got a girlfriend, a best friend, a coach who is trying to bank off of him, and he's constanly being followed by college boosters trying to convince him to go to their school.

There is no decent dialogue. The acting is horrible and i must reiterate this MOVIE IS NOT FUNNY! It is corny.
