Plot: Dweebish architect Miles Harding (Lenny Von Dohlen) is hopelessly in love with neighboring musician Madeline (Virginia Madsen). He soon learns that Madeline already has an ardent suitor: Harding's own computer (voiced by Harold and Maude star Bud Cort)! When the electronic device, nicknamed Edgar, begins composing love songs dedicated to Madeline, Harding passes the tunes off as his own. At this point, the envious Edgar really goes to town, taking over all the electrical appliances in Harding's house--and dangerously meddling in its owner's life. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

I'm lovin' it

Love this movie. It's helped me appreciate classical music much more, especially Bach's minute in G from the Anna Magdalena Notebook, which was used during the "duel" scene. Bought the import DVD knowing it's going to be bad (of course I was right). Please release the DVD. I can't wait.

I saw this movie for the first time around '89 or '90 when I was in college and watched it several times after that. It has a lovable cheesiness to it that has left a lasting impression on me. I still remember many lines from this movie. Would love to own it on DVD.

This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid. When I got older, I finally found the VHS version of this on ebay and paid through the roof for it. Please, please, please release a DVD version of this!!

Stands the test of time.

I loved this movie ever since watching it as a kid. I happened upon it at the local video rental store, when I was all of 8 years old - I was immediately drawn to the cover art, which clearly depicted the premise of a "living" computer, amidst a (then modern day) romantic comedy.

I grew up tinkering with computers and listening to classical music. I'm also a self-taught keyboardist/musician, and I'm well too familiar with the part of the lovesick, hopeless romantic--more than I'd like to admit. So I'm not sure if this movie appealed to me because of these things, or perhaps even had an effect in becoming the person I am today. Who knows?

The thing I do know, much to my surprise and comfort, after recently watching it again, as an adult, and after having never seen it since, through the eyes of that little 8 year old boy, was that his movie still held up to my present day expectations. I was worried of course, because of how some of your childhood favorites don't always hold-up to the memories you once had of them, when you try to relive it again.

This movie astonished me. It was still able to make me laugh, and even shed actual tears - something I don't even recall doing as a child. I do remember the laughter, though!

Perhaps, in some ways, it's even more relevant to me today, then it was back then; in broad terms, maybe, in personal terms, there's no doubt.

In short, if there is such a thing as a soul, this movie could fit mine like a glove.

I just hope the 2010 remake lives up to this classic... in my book, anyway.

Widescreen DVD please!!!

This movie is a classic that was years ahead of it's time and should have been released on DVD years ago. It is good to hear that there is a strong possibility of it finally being released on DVD soon but please, release it in WIDESCREEN format.
