Plot: Three men discover that meddling in their sister-in-law's love life only makes their own lives more complicated in this romantic comedy. Eva Dandridge (Gabrielle Union) developed a sense of responsibility early on in life, when after the death of her parents she was left to care for her three younger sisters, Kareenah (Essence Atkins), Bethany (Robinne Lee), and Jacqui (Meagan Good). All four of the Dandridge sisters have grown up to be attractive, intelligent, and successful; Kareenah is happily married to Tim (Mel Jackson), while Bethany is engaged to Michael (Duane Martin), and Jacqui is going steady with Darrell (Dartanyan Edmonds). However, Eva still watches over her siblings like a hawk, and while her sisters love Eva dearly, Tim, Michael, and Darrell wish their sister-in-law would stay out of their business. The guys decide that if Eva had a boyfriend, she might be less interested in running other people's lives, and they turn to Ray (LL Cool J), a notorious ladies' man, for help. Ray is short on cash, so the guys make him a deal -- they'll give him 5,000 dollars to romance Eva, sweep her off her feet, and then dump her a few weeks later. Ray agrees, and while getting past her no-nonsense demeanor takes some doing, before long she's head over heels for him. However, Ray unexpectedly finds himself falling in love with Eva, and Eva, when offered a job in another town, decides to stay on to be with Ray. Even worse, the other Dandridge sisters are so impressed with the romantic Ray that they start demanding a bit more TLC from their own men. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Interesting movie with an all start cast of African Americans actors and the delicious Gabrielle Union......oh wee, let's say her smile is the main reason I had to buy this product. Jamie Fox and Morris Chestnut deliver excellent performances.

The story in a way is funny and true. Poor white boss is being used by his chick.

Not Bad

Breakin All the Rules is a good movie. Very funny at times, a lot of laugh out loud moments, a good storyline, and great/believable chemistry between Union and Fox. And the pug did a great job also!! It's always great to see a good love story - especially one involving African American main characters.

I'll give it an "A" for effort. Though not flawless, this movie is not disappointing and should be given a try.

Note to Self:: If You need to Break up Get Jamie Foxx to Do It!

Well, first ya gotta look at what type of movie it is. By no means was it planned out to be an Oscar Winner, or a Blockbusting Special Effects Movie...It's just plain Funny. You have about 3 or 4 misdirections in the fact that Quincy (Foxx)is sent his friend Evan(Chestnut) To break-up with E.'s Girl Niki. Who has a feeling that is what is happeneing so she lies and says her name is Mary. So all Chaos insues. But in the end everyone gets the girl; it's a Funny comedy of Errors. As usual Jamie Foxx is funny as ever, and aside from the main plot there are little side things that make you laugh.
I only gave this movie a 3 because I'm comparing it to ALL the other movies...but as far as a comedy Date movies this bad boy is a 4.5+. So I Hope you find this review useful. And Yes the tips in the movie actually are useful. I only gave them a "Field Test" Once...but they worked like a charm. This isn't the same type of movie as Brown Sugar, or any of the other movies that are billing like this one. It is truely in a class of its own. Got a lil' something for the guys to laugh at, and the girls to get a little something out of too.
One thing is for sure...she'll definately understand after watching the movie why the words "Baby we need to Talk" Scare a dude to death. Enjoy Guys!

Added 5/31/2005

I have been looking everywhere for this song. I can not find it on any Mystikal CD's. The song is played throughout the movie and also when Q hits his cuz and starts to walk out of the building to get the girl. If you know where to find this song, please let me know.

Delightfully Entertaining
Added 8/24/2009

I found this movie to be delightfully entertaining and the acting was great. There is no profanity and the story concept is believable. It's a lighthearted comedy that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Even though I had already viewed the movie a few years ago I was happy to add it to my personal video library.

Better than I expected
Added 5/6/2009

Yeah, this movie is kind of predictable. The ending could have been seen a mile away but I like this movie a lot. It was recommended to me by the same friend who recommended American History X to me. He wasn't wrong about that movie and he wasnt wrong here. I was skeptical about seeing Gabrielle Union(who is too fine for words) playing a feisty character but the movie was a lot better than the previews led me to believe.

Story: 3 brothers who are constantly hen-pecked by their girlfriends' sister Eva hire a player named Raymond(played by LL Cool J) to date her so they can spend more time with their mates. Raymond ends up falling for Eva when he realizes that there is more to her than meets the eye.

Gabrielle Union was perfect as the high-strung Eva. I never looked at her the same after this role until I watched the movie recently and saw that her character wasnt that bad. The people that really annoyed me were the black three stooges Mike, Tim and Darrell. I mean, kidnapping Raymond because his relationship was making theirs look bad was in bad taste. I know it's just a movie but that was pretty low what they did. I laughed a lot at Eva when her attitude changed around once she started to date Raymond. The scene where she was in the beauty salon after a night of passion with Raymond had me on the floor rolling. I know women tend to act funny after receiving great sex but man was she goofy. I'll admit that LL Cool J and Gabrielle Union made a great looking couple on screen. There is actually chemistry there and LL lends a certain charm to his character Raymond. I think we need to give LL a little more credit as an actor. When he did his first lead in Out Of Sync I laughed at him but now he's lot better. He was good in Edison Force, S.W.A.T., Deep Blue Sea, Kingdom Come and here in Deliver Us From Eva.

Critics are being too hard on this movie. Of course it's predictable but what movie isnt these days? I wasnt checking my watch every minute so that has to be a good sign. It was pretty funny at times and it was sweet. As a retelling of Shakespear's Taming Of The Shrew its pretty good. As a product of Black Cinema its one of the best romantic comedies in recent. There I said it.
