Plot: Originally titled Stephen King's It, this two-part TV movie first aired on November 18 and 20, 1990. The story starts in Maine, where a small child is lured into the hands of what audiences everywhere can be assured is one mean clown. The 30-year struggle against an evil supernatural force that masquerades as a circus clown named Pennywise (Tim Curry) begins in 1960 and spans until 1990. Featured are a group of six young men and one young woman who call themselves the lucky seven and are the unfortunate targets of Pennywise from pre-adolescence into their mid-forties. The lucky seven emerge physically intact but emotionally scathed after their first battle with Pennywise -- who is a self-labeled eater of worlds...and children. When Pennywise returns 30 years later, the seven are forced to remember their terrifying past and faced with the prospect of destroying him once and for all. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

It- The Movie

Although packed with a star-studded cast, the movie version of Stephen King's "It" fails to deliver a shutter of the suspense, horror or blood colored drama of the book. Turn off the TV, grab the book. You won't be disappointed or sleep or dare go into a sewer where this movie belongs.

Clowns are scary to begin with
Added 10/7/2009

This is one scary miniseries. Everyone knows that clowns are creepy, we'll Pennywise will bring it all up about ten notches. Really, this Stephen King adaptation is very scary. Not as scary as The Shining and Pet Cemetery, but still very scary. If you think clowns are harmless, try to at least stare at one once you're finished with Stephen King's It. With a total of over 190 minutes, you'll find yourself hoping that the Stop button to your remote control really works. There are so many intense moments in this 1990 miniseries, such as the infamous fortune cookie scene or the picture that comes to life in front of our protagonists' eyes, and of course, the scene in which Pennywise is seen under a storm drain. So it's true: this is one heck of a horror flick. It's not as great as other King adaptations like The Shining, but it's still something that'll make you leave your lights on while you sleep.

So have a good time getting scared by Stephen King's It. And remember now:

". . . they ALL float . . ."
