Plot: Cinematographer Ernest R. Dickerson directed and co-wrote this crime drama about a group of friends who get involved in a robbery. Bishop (Tupac Shakur), Q (Omar Epps), Raheem (Khalil Kain), and Steel (Jermaine Hopkins) are four Harlem friends who spend their days skipping school, getting in fights, and casually shoplifting. The only member of the group who has plans for the future is Q, who dreams of becoming a deejay. But one day Bishop happens to see James Cagney in White Heat and the film inspires him to buy a gun. His plan is to rob a corner store and split the money. Everyone goes along with the plan except for Q, who is competing that night in a deejay contest. At the club, Q is a rousing success, but he spies the stern faces of his friends through the cheering crowd and realizes that he has to go along with the robbery, which goes completely wrong. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

good but depressing....

this one is more about character study than about plot...you're just getting a glimpse into the life of young black males in harlem nyc....omar epps as q was the most likeable of all the characters...the scenes which he dj's is cool...especially when he's participating in a dj contest....tupac wasn't really acting, he was just playing himself, just wilding out on screen and blowing away people because he felt like it...there was nothing really hopeful or uplifting about the movie at all....queen latifah and samuel l. jackson gave good performances...that along with omar epps performance and the soundtrack pushed this film into the marginal three star range....

Excellent Acting By 2pac, downright scary, In this Gritty Street Drama.
Movie is somewhat a Moral lesson, Quite Ironic considering. Teaches that power is nothing and you can be touched.

Man this movie was the JOINT when it came out! Anyway, great movie with the late Tupac as a crazy cat running around shooting everyone for the "Juice" in the neighborhood. I suggest you pick it up if you are considering it. Order through Amazon and you know it will come to the front door on time and in great condition. Enjoy..NEOSOUL06.
