Plot: Her fantasy is to possess him. But now, it had become an obsession. The ad copy for the TV movie Obsessive Love said it all. Yvette Mimieux stars as the number one fan of soap-opera actor Simon McCorkindale. Not content with an autographed 8X10 glossy, Mimieux plots and plans to seduce McCorkindale and ruin his marriage to Constance McCashin. It could be worse: Yvette Mimieux could have been Kathy Bates. The best scenes go to Lainie Kazan as the Agnes Nixon-ish soap opera creator. Co-produced and co-written by Ms. Mimieux, Obsessive Love made its TV debut on October 2, 1984 ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

fun junk
Added 9/24/2006

Yvette Mimieux plays a mousy woman (of course that's changed later on) who decides to go after her favorite soap opera star. After a brief fling she begins to stalk him and destroys his career and family life.

Mimieux wrote a tv movie in the 70's "Hit Lady" and I have to say she got better. This has a better pace and there a few cheesy lines along the way. It isn't ncessarily good but it's passable. Mimieux is fun as the crazy lady and Lainie Kazan is also good as a writer for the soap opera.

This predated "Fatal Attraction" so one wonders if perhaps it had an influence.

Nothing special, but well done !

I just bought this movie because Constance McCashin (Laura from Knots Landing) is playing in it. The story is known from lots of other movies. A woman is mad for her favorite soap star and hunts and tries to kill him. Nothing special about this "made for TV" film. But if you like the stars in this movie, it's worth watching it.
