A Surprisingly Great Movie
Added 8/11/2009
I first saw this movie in 1991 in the theatre. I'd long forgotten most of the movie, just remembered the basics of what it was about, and that Brian Wimmer, lifeguard on "China Beach" was one of the stars. I had the opportunity to see this movie just last month and was surprised to see that some 18 years later, I still liked this movie. It's the niceness of the two main characters that carries the unbelievable premise and the unlikely romantic angle of the movie. You just want things to work out for these guys, they're such honest, decent guys.
You get to see Jeanine Garafolo play "Counter Girl" and Michael Beach play a small role as well. Hey, it was 1991.
I purchased this VHS for conversion to DVD because I decided that it was one of those keepers that I'd want to come back to once every 6 years or so.

Awesome movie!
Added 7/13/2009
if you have not seen this one, you are going to want to. Romantic New Mexico setting in the 50s, where unbeknown to the two involved, thinking they might have been away for a night or so, they woke up accidentally having been frozen crogenically only to find themselves hurled into a future (the 80s) 30 years ahead, and both have a lot of catching up to do. Sweet and made credible, nice happy ever after fairy tale story.

I love this movie!!! seen it many times. I would like to just buy the movie and have it sent to my home rather than rent or buy the way you have it set up. That's how I buy my movies but it's not offered through amazon movie list. If it is please help!!. Send the info to me so I can order. Marcia gay Harden is wonderful in this movie. If you have'nt seen (Late For Dinner) you should. Irma in California

Nice Story And A Real 'Sleeper' Of A Film
Added 3/9/2009
This was kind of a 'sleeper' in that I have never heard much about this film - it's not well-known, never been out on DVD, but it's very good: almost like an old-fashioned classic era story in that is guaranteed to bring a tear or two to your eyes at the end.
I say "almost" because, unlike classic films, there is some profanity in here and a few unnecessary political cheap shots typical of Hollywood. Otherwise, it's a nice drama (not a "comedy" as it's often labeled) featuring two men (brothers-in-law), one older one looking after his younger, mentally-slow relative.
Brian Wimmer plays "Willie," the caring older in-law and Peter Berg is the younger "Frank." There is some action in the beginning, the film then turns a bit sci-fi as the brothers are accidentally frozen in time, and then the last third is a romance. Along the way, there is comedy from time to time.
In other words, you get a little bit of everything in here, but in the end it is a drama that entertains throughout the hour-and-a-half. I'm still can't believe this has not been issued on DVD as of early 2009.

Late for dinner, was a movie, I rented for my sister and I to watch, one evening, she and I needed to spend some sister time together, and this movie was great, it made us laugh and cry and cheer, we both enjoyed it so much. As Valentine gift for a friend, I started looking for it, in DVD format, but could'nt find it, and on top of that none of the video stores in my area, did'nt even have it to rent any more, so thank you Amazon, for having what I was looking for.
