Wiseguys Of The Night...
Added 7/1/2009
If you enjoyed John Landis' classic AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, then you should love INNOCENT BLOOD! Landis takes the vampire tale and blends it perfectly w/ the ganster film. His choice of mob heavies includes Chazz Palminteri (The Usual Suspects, A Bronx Tale), Robert Loggia (Scarface), and some familiar faces from THE SOPRANOS! As the red hot, central vamp character, Marie, Landis has Anne Parillaud (Le Femme Nikita herself!). With gallons of blood, gangland goings-on, and laughs aplenty, IB proves that, in the right hands, horror and comedy are a match made in heaven (hell?)... P.S.- Watch for Don Rickles' (Casino) movie-stealing incineration scene, Tom Savini (Dawn Of The Dead) as a photographer, and Linnea Quigley (Night Of The Demons, Return Of The Living Dead, Silent Night/Deadly Night) as a screaming nurse...

Blood, Love and Laughter

A little horror, a good deal of romance and lots and lots of humor. One can't help but laugh when Marie is debating about what she'll have for dinner and decides on "Italian," or when the attorney's wife cries out, "He ate my Manny!" or Sal snickers as he says (with hilarious understatement,) "This shirt is disgusting!" The film was cleverly and subtly written, directed and played, making one wonder how the actors were able to say their lines without breaking out in laughter. It is a showcase of Loggia's comedic ability and Parillaud's sensuality.

Robert Loggia's performance steals this underrated film
Added 6/5/2009
This is an underrated vampire flick, in my opinion, with even a few
fresh twists on the genre.
But it must be said, that Robert Loggia's performance as a mob boss,
at first shocked, then DELIGHTED to be a vampire,
with all of a vampire's abilities, is over-the-top sensational. Loggia must
have really enjoyed this role, because he dives into it with complete relish and absolute abandon.
Every scene with Loggia in it is a treat;Sometimes the film's
fascination-level recedes a bit when Loggia is off-screen, but he
always returns to pump things up again.
This is a fun Vampire flick, IMO, and Loggia's work here especially
makes it quite worthwhile.

Falls Into Mediocrity
Added 5/9/2009
Pretty good movie, being a hybrid of vampire horror and comedy (and crime drama). If you want a solid chiller, pass this one up. But if you'd like something different, e.g., seen about all the vamp flicks, you will want to add this one to your list. It's a lot better than Forever Knight, for those who remember that series, but it's not as funny as Vegas Vampires. If you want a vampiric comedy, try that one out instead. But all in all, this one is good. Not bad, not great, good.
