Plot: In a well-wrought sex comedy with one foot in the feminist camp and another on a banana peel, Casey Meadows (Deborah Foreman in an excellent performance) defies social custom when she gets a job as a limo driver. The manager of the Brentwood Limousine Company, McBride (Howard Hesseman), and her co-workers give her both a hard time and some of the worst fares possible. She is eventually assigned to chauffeur an overworked executive (Sam Jones) who just broke up with his girlfriend. After drowning his sorrows in the back seat of the limo, the ingrate wakes up in Casey's bed the morning after, refusing to believe he had anything to do with her. Their antagonistic relationship is stressed all the more when she has to drive him on a vacation and the car breaks down. What Casey does not know is that she has not been given the complete scoop on her passenger. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

I loved the old driver's banter
Added 11/16/2009

I enjoyed this cute romantic comedy when it came out in the '80s, but I hadn't seen it for quite a while. One thing I really enjoyed this time around was the banter between the drivers in the break room. I thought it was execellent characterization of a bunch of old men who have been working together forever, and have long ago established the patterns of how they discuss/argue about things. (It probably struck me this time since I'm quite a bit older that I was when I first saw the video, and have been working with some of my coworkers for over 20 years--30 in one case.)

Deborah Foreman is cute and perky and feisty, and a lot of fun.

And the video has one of my favorite seduction scenes. ("Well, try something else!") You'll have to watch it.

Overall a pretty funny movie.

The movie overall is OK.

It has several scenes where the dialogue is WAY overdone I think. It also has quite a bit of obscene language and several graphic nudity segments. I would definitely NOT recommend this be viewed by children.

However, aside from the above observations, it is worth watching. Deborah Foreman is hilarious at times and makes the whole film.

Awesomely funny movie. Deborah Foreman is the Audrey Hepburn of the '80s. She steals the show.

Another Foreman Classic

Initially, I snagged this DVD for two reasons - it had Deborah Foreman in it (which I'm a fan of) and I wanted to hear the soundtrack. Gladly, I never saw it back in the 80s, so it was entirely fresh to me. I'm really happy that it's a part of my DVD library now, for it is very funny and Deborah looks her best since "Valley Girl". Funny thing is, right from the start, when she shows up at the Brentwood Limousine Company, her acting surprised me due to it being so familiar. Then it hit me, she mixed together the character style of her friend, Michelle Meyrink (from "Real Genius") and a bit of Ally Sheedy from "The Breakfast Club". Michelle in the fast talking, always hyper personality and Ally for the quick responses like "No!". If you are a fan of "The Breakfast Club", you'll know what I'm talking about. Michelle also played her friend in "Valley Girl" as well, but that characterization was totally different than when she was in "Real Genius". The soundtrack is quite good too. Hard to find The Wigs album though. Supposed to be coming out on CD sometime soon. Only one song in the movie stinks by them and that's the extremely repetative "Fire" tune that they play in the club. Also didn't know this was Penn & Teller's first movie. Penn plays a con artist and Teller an Arabian sheik. You would never guess that they would become so well-known in the magic-comedy business from their roles in the film. Anyway, if you want a fun, laughable, sexy-at-times, comedy, you won't go wrong with "My Chauffeur".
