Plot: A woman has to learn how to love and trust men all over again in this comedy drama. Helen McCarter (Kimberly Elise) would seem to have it all -- she's been married for 18 years to Charles (Steve Harris), and over the course of their time together, he's become one of Atlanta's most successful attorneys. But despite wealth and prestige, things are not as they should be at the McCarter home, and on their anniversary, Charles drops a bombshell on Helen -- he's divorcing her for another woman. Escorted out of the house with nowhere to go, Helen moves in with her grandmother Madea (Tyler Perry), a sassy woman with no shortage of opinions and a gun that she's not afraid to use. As Madea helps Helen get back on her feet emotionally, the divorcée makes the acquaintance of Orlando (Shemar Moore), a handsome man who is obviously attracted to her. But after her experiences with Charles, Helen isn't sure if she's ready to trust a man again. Diary of a Mad Black Woman was adapted from the popular stage play by Tyler Perry, who also plays several roles in the film, most prominently Madea; it marked the first feature-film credit for successful music video director Darren R. Grant. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This movie is about HOPE and I have to say, I absolutely ADORE Tyler Perry! He has the courage to write real, moving and uplifting stories. Its funny, you're going to laugh, cry, get mad, get even and know peace. Amazing. Will definitely be buying his movies. Thank you Tyler and God bless you for this inspiring God driven story!

Sober look at life

Tyler Perry did it again in this refreshingly sober look about love, betrayal and forgiveness. I must say that the character that Kimberly played is an endangered species these days as it is hard to tread on a sister so low and yet she begs to stay with you not for anything else but love. Good work Tyler!

I first saw this film in college. Later, I made my mother watch it when it showed on the Lifetime channel. She loves it! Now I have it and share it with people from work and other friends who have yet to see it. Now when someone get's a little upset with me, I tell them, "Call the Po Po, Ho! Call the Po Po!" If they've seen the movie, they cannot help but grin. Madea definitely provides several movie lines that can easily be referenced on a regular basis.

This movie has a good message about life, love, and forgiveness. Definitely a must-see!

"I open my Bible to that New Testimony and see all that red and I just give up. Jesus was talkin' way too much"

In a Hollywood populated by spiritually emasculated movies, how rare to find a film which manages to combine the raunchy humour of "The Krumps" with the earnest spirituality of "The Apostle." So rare is this type of movie, that the first mention of God or Jesus by a character made me flinch ("Oh no! Not another "Facing the Giants"!)If you cannot handle a Christian message punctuated (some would say "ruined") by Krump-like characters, then go rent "Left Behind." Pagans have ussually made the most truthful "Christian" movies, but Tyler Perry comes close to changing that (just skip the happy but truth-compromising ending).
