Plot: Similar to the premise of American Graffiti, this film centers on eight California high school students whose lives intersect over two nights in the hot summer of 1965. As the Watts riots begin, the young people make decisions that will impact their entire lives. Writer-director Floyd Mutrux examines at the graduating class of 1965 of Westwood High School in Los Angeles, which was featured on the cover of {~Look} magazine in 1961. The story is narrated by the class valedictorian, Mary Beth (Lucy Deakins). Kelli Williams plays Sunshine, a prototypical flower child. Characters played by Dermot Mulroney and Rick Schroder and others struggle with decisions about the Vietnam war, aspire to be rock musicians, and take divergent paths on politics while navigating various romantic entanglements. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

What a GREAT movie! I was taken back to an earlier time when we were the future of America. Acting is OK, music is even better. Worth the purchase for the wonderful music alone! A 5 star adventure in my book!

from school to reality

For an European it's not always easy to know what the American schoollife is like. This movie shows some important sixties-things. My rate's 3 stars because the real age of the players makes some scenes lesser convincing.

favorite movie of all time.

I first watched this movie a couple of years ago and automatically it became my all-time favorite movie. It made me cry, laugh, everything. I have watched this movie over and over again, and have not become tired of it yet. I know practically every word in it, and the music is awsome aswell. I have nothing negative to say about this movie. Its a good feeling film that helps us understand what it was like in that generation, in our parents generation. I would recommend this movie to anyone. It's quite a chick flick, no lie, but i think everyone could relate to it in some way or another.
