Plot: A man learns the hard way that, when it comes to women, three is more than a crowd in this frantic comedy. Tomas Fuentes (Eduardo Verástegui) is a successful advertising man living in Los Angeles who has a way with the ladies. Almost too much of a way, in fact, since he's currently dating three beautiful women in three different cities: Lorena (Roselyn Sanchez), a bright and attractive lawyer living in Chicago; Cici (Sofía Vergara), a cocktail waitress from Miami with a fiery personality; and Patricia (Jaci Velasquez), a New Yorker looking to get out from under the domineering shadow of her mother. As it happens, all three women are fans of noted television astrologer Walter Mercado, and on his advice, they each decide to take a bold step in their relationships and visit Tomas in L.A. Needless to say, the women are enraged to discover Tomas' rather spectacular infidelity, but that turns out to be the least of his problems after a mixture of booze and tranquilizers lands him in the hospital, a pair of crooks (D.L. Hughley and Freddy Rodriguez) kidnap him, and he discovers Cici and Patricia are wanted by the law. Produced under the title Papi Chulo, Chasing Papi was the first feature film from director Linda Mendoza after an extensive resume of credits in television comedy. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Slapstick all the way
Added 8/10/2009

No one in their right mind would read the back of this box and expect a masterpiece. But it is VERY funny. The gags may be a bit low-brow but it is good humored fun to watch provided your not homophobic or easily offended. If you don't buy it you really won't be missing out but if you do you should get a bunch of good laughs.

This is a pathetic, boring, offensive movie with an excuse of a "plot" which seems to hinge on topless models and rude jokes about gay men.

I am embarrassed for Cuba Gooding, Jr., who tries to add some life to this shell of a picture, but can't quite pull off the miracle it would take to bring this corpse of a movie to life.

Cuba and his friend (an annoying leg-humper type) go on a cruise and are sent on a gay cruise. Of course a helicopter full of lovely ladies literally drops in, and it's all very stupid and boring and tasteless.

I'd steer clear of this.

Guilty Fun & Victoria Silvstedt!
Added 12/17/2007

Speaking stricly as a heterosexual male, Boat Trip has shameless, "been there, done that" homosexual jokes, and crude humor that you may laugh at out of shear embarassment.

There are also some crude scenes involving a "straight" man, with a "long fellow" when he discovers a group of Scandanavian Goddesses on board...lead by the drop-dead gorgeous Victoria Silvstedt...who could make many "alternative men" straight (in more ways than one)!

Take the movie for what it is - shameless, crude laughs...and enjoy it.

good entertainment...

i watched this movie in the beginning solely for jaci velaquez...jaci is one of the hottest christian/ latina singers to come along in the last ten years or so....jaci plays "patrcia" ( what else ? ) a good girl...and she did a good job...the film overall was a pleasant surprise...jaci, along with sofia vergara as " cici " a bartender with an impressive set of chi chis....and roslyn sanchez as lorena...the bookworm feminist type...all the women are involved with the same guy...tomas ( eduardo verastigui) but the all live in different cities...until one day the ladies decide to come to l.a. to surprise him...all of the women are hot and very talented...once cici, patricia and lorena meet up in l.a....the film becomes a screwball comedy...lisa vidal plays a sandra bullock-esque federal agent who is also chasing papi and using him as bait, to lead her to some stolen money in an interesting sideplot...the story gets better when its shifts from tomas and focuses on the three women and becomes a female empowerment film...as for the ending...i won't give it away, but it was a real ending...this was one of those movies that got mixed reviews...although its a latino movie...people of any race will relate to it...its one of those movies that did so so in theatres but better on video....

Full of disparate situations, but an ok film
Added 2/12/2008

This movie is ok. Sofia Vergara, Jaci Velazquez and Roselyn Sanchez do a pretty good job in the performances as 3 women that realize they are all dating the same guy, Eduardo Verastegui (who knew absolutely no English before this movie started). The movie is full of inside jokes (Roselyn Sanchez' character being confused as a beauty queen when in real likfe Sanchez was a Miss Puerto Rico Petite) and spanglish worlds. The humor, very much like Hispanic sitcomes, is full of ridiculous and disparate situations. I kinda liked the movie, especially cause Eduardo Verastegui was in it.
