Plot: This family adventure concerns Ryan (Ryan Slater), a ten-year-old boy who has traveled to China with his father, a scientist working with a wildlife preserve dedicated to the rescue and protection of giant pandas, who are quickly becoming an endangered species in their native land. However, the preserve is faced with a severe budget cut that would close them down unless they can produce a living panda cub. Ryan, his father Michael (Stephen Lang), and a local girl acting as translator (Huang Fei) set out in search of a baby panda. However, when they find one, the bear is being pursued by poachers. Ryan becomes separated from the rest of the group, and he alone must guide the young panda to the safety of the preserve, with the hunters hot on his trail and without the help of his father or their translator. The Amazing Panda Adventure was shot on location in Mainland China's Sichuan province. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This filmed in China has it all!! The locations are magnificent, the acting is good, and the plot is very well developed. Let's face it, how can you go wrong with such a cute lead character. If you do not find pandas to be almost the cutest animal there is, you will probably not be charmed by this film. I was struck with how good the boy is that plays the lead. It is not easy to work with animals they always steal the scene, but he did an outstanding job of holding up his character. The two Chinese actors were excellent. This one is for the whole family. The plight of the panda is well developed here, without being overdone

This is a great movie especiall if your child loves panda bears like mine does. It is a little slow in the beginning for younger kids.

Children's Live Action

I LOVED this movie as a child! It was probably one of the only live action movies I enjoyed until I was 10 or so... People may be offended by the nudity in this movie, as a child I was not bothered but it is best for parents to decide whether or not a movie is appropriate beforehand anyway. Perhaps the part about this movie that impacted me the most was the other culture shown in it. It opened me up to the world!

Best Children's Movie Ever

If you like children's animal movies, this one will surely win your heart. Pandas have to be the cutest, yet nearly the rarest, animals in the world. Sure, dogs are cute, but they are a dime a dozen! This movie has a lot of great panda shots. The cinematography was breathtaking, as it was filmed on location in the Sicchuan --- which is truly Panda Country! The bridge sequence in the movie was very exciting. The acting was excellent for the genre.
