Plot: With its incoherent plot, jaw-droppingly odd dialogue, inept acting, threadbare production design, and special effects so shoddy that they border on the surreal, Plan 9 From Outer Space has often been called the worst movie ever made. But it's an oddly endearing disaster; boasting genuine enthusiasm and undeniable charm, it is the work of people who loved movies and loved making them, even if they displayed little visible talent. In Plan 9, alien invaders attempt to conquer the world by raising the dead, starting with an old man dressed in a Dracula costume (Bela Lugosi, in a few minutes of left-over footage grafted into this film), his much-younger and well-proportioned wife (Maila Vampira Nurmi), and a remarkably overweight police officer (Tor Johnson). Often funny and consistently entertaining (if almost always for the wrong reasons), Plan 9 From Outer Space is an anti-masterpiece if there ever was one, and as Criswell so brilliantly puts it, Can you PROVE it didn't happen?!? Its legendary director Edward D. Wood Jr. was played by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's 1994 biopic, Ed Wood. One of the DVD releases of Plan 9 From Outer Space includes the documentary Flying Saucers Over Hollywood: The Plan 9 Companion, an exhaustive and entertaining look at the making of the film that runs a half-hour longer than the feature to which it pays tribute! ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Plan 9 From Outer Space,2004 DVD,In Color and In Black white,Legend Films, Plan 9 is in fact the Worst Movie I have ever seen along with che and fidel movies, and what hollywood usually tries to pass off as art,Oliver Stone films are horrible, But at least you know what you get with Plan 9, it's horrible yes,Bad editing,Acting,Directing, etc.
But Vampira is in It,Bela is in it. and it's kind of entertaining to see despite the plot. I had to watch it being A Misfits Fan. And since it was $3.99 at the Big Lots Store. As for the special features, nothing really special about it, there is one called what happen to Plan 1-8 ? and one of them I found typical hollywood liberal stuff, shows Bush the Day of 9/11 doing nothing,so I wasn't amused, and of course Ed woods' lost films, where he is dressed in Drag(EWW) gross. what a weirdo. oh well.

Worst Movie Ever? Nah
Added 10/4/2009

Yes the film sucks, but it's such campy fun how can you resist? If for no other reason check it out to see Bela Lugosi don Dracula's cape for the last time and wander around a cemetery in broad daylight waiting for hapless victims. Or enjoy the head alien berating the film's hero by explaining his dastardly plan and then yelling "Stupid!" "Stupid!". 'Plan 9', as our narrator Criswell explains, is a plan conceived by aliens to resurrect the dead in order to convince humans of their existence and power. They fly their saucers over Hollywood Boulevard, before devising a plan to parade the newly dead on the steps of the state capital. Three people are successfully resurrected: a sexy/creepy woman (Vampira) wearing a flowing black gown complete with plunging neckline, the lead cop on the case (Tor Johnson) who was struck down by spaceships and my personal favorite The Dead Old Man (Lugosi). Turns out Vampira and the Old Man were married and now thanks to the aliens they have been reunited. The three walking dead roam Hollywood and attempt to scare anyone who crosses their path and then bring them back to the spaceship. There's no point elaborating more on the plot because it doesn't matter. The Passport DVD has it's good and bad points. The bonuses include a trailer gallery for other Ed Wood films and a bonus documentary consisting of interviews with actors who have played Wood or Lugosi (Johnny Depp and Martin Landau) and family members of Wood and his stock company of actors (Wood's ex-wife, Vampira and Bela Lugosi's son). The downside is that the picture and audio are atrocious. Plus, Passport's annoying logo, PIP, is in the right hand corner the whole time. It's pretty distracting. Once you get past that, watch the trailer gallery and you'll agree with Depp that Wood paved the way for other cult directors like Tim Burton, John Waters and David Lynch. A fun DVD.

Read the title of the review. If you have no sense of humor or you are a movie snob, do not buy this.

Add another star in the sky and another Ace to the deck!

Best Ace album ... so far!
"Outspace" has all the thunder of anything Ace has put out.
The lyrics are cryptic and seem to revolve around certain doom.

Fun To Watch......Because It's So Stupid!
Added 9/5/2009

This flick is so incredibly inept that you'll find yourself watching it over and over again. You'll even invite your friends over to bask in it's stupidity. The highlights of this film are, of course, the stringed pie-plates (or hub-caps, depending on who you ask) serving as flying saucers, swinging back and forth over a fake landscape; Big ol' Tor Johnson, with Orphan Annie contacts, struggling to climb out of a grave, knocking over a cardboard tombstone in the process; and thespian ham Dudley Manlove, as lead alien Eros (!), having a royal hissy fit at the ignorant Earthmen ("Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!"). I must admit though, the sight of Vampira advancing towards the camera is a little creepy, even for this low-budget laugher. As bad as this is, it's not the worst movie of all time. Try watching 'The Creeping Terror'. Now THAT'S the worst movie of all time.

The Worst Movie Ever Made
Added 11/4/2009

Make fun of the worst movie ever made. It can't get any better than this. Was it filmed in the day, or night? Was the editor blind?

The Rifftrax crew does their fun commentary on the Ed Wood film "Plan 9 from Outer Space" (Also known as: "The worst film of all time.") Since I am a huge fan of Ed Wood I was happy to own I could own this commentary on DVD, and am very proud to own it. This is a hilarious commentary and if you're any fan of humor you must own this DVD.

Hilarious commentary to a hilarious movie
Added 7/30/2009

Plan 9 from Outer Space is a movie I had seen many, many times on it's own over the years and found it to always be highly entertaining. The Rifftrax jokes on top add further to the enjoymant of this "fine" film. I watched this with a group of people who had not seen the original movie and they liked it as much as I did-- it was like watching a really great episode of MST3K.

And I like that it is playable both with and without the Rifftrax commentary as I will likely watch this movie without them as well.
