Plot: Teen queen Lizzie McGuire grows up a bit and hits the big screen in this comedy drama, based on the popular Disney Network series. Lizzie McGuire (Hilary Duff) and her best friends Kate (Ashlie Brillault), Gordo (Adam Lamberg), and Ethan (Clayton Snyder) have just graduated from middle school, and to celebrate, they're taking part in a class trip to Rome, Italy. Eager to celebrate their new maturity as high school students, Lizzie and her pals hope to live it up in one of Europe's most fabled cities, but fate has something more spectacular in store for Lizzie. Lizzie discovers that she bears a striking resemblance to Isabella, an Italian teen-pop idol famous for her duets with heart-throb Paolo (Yani Gellman) -- so much so that when Paolo and Isabella have a falling out, he asks Lizzie to take Isabella's place for an upcoming concert. Lizzie, however, isn't sure she feels comfortable stepping into the spotlight, and is even less sure about the way she feels about Paolo, who makes no secret of his infatuation with her. Things don't get any simpler for Lizzie when her family gets wind of her newfound fame, and catch the next flight to Italy. The Lizzie McGuire Movie also features Robert Carradine and Hallie Todd as Lizzie's parents, and Jake Thomas as her younger brother Matt, all of whom reprise their roles from the television series. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Unworthy of the series
Added 11/4/2009

This movie completely ignored the developments of the tv series. Lizzie seemed to forget she realized Gordo liked her (the costume party episode and the series finale). Instead of using this movie as a great opportunity to delve into Gordo and Lizzie's relationship, its wasted on some random Italian popstar. Furthermore, Lizzie appears very un-Lizzie like here as a shallow and rude girl. What made her character great - the insecurity, the sweetness - is lost here. And the fact that Miranda is not here so Kate is the friend is bizzare. And no Tudgeman!!!!!! Clearly this was a vanity project to show off Hilary Duff, not a way to end the series. The ending is nice on the rooftop, but too little too late, the movie should have focused on Lizzie/Gordo.

So I bought this for my girlfriend, and the DVD came on time and when she watched it, it worked. It's cute if you're into Lizzie McGuire, I prefer Lion King, but what can you do.

I bought this movie for my niece for her seventh birthday & see loved it. This movie is good it goes along with the story line of the Disney tv show "Lizzie McGuire". The movie is typicall about teenage love. Lizzie & her school class went to Rome and she meet a cute pop star within first arriving named Paolo. Paolo is nice, sweet, and good looking. Lizzie & Paolo have fun tobgether because he shows her Rome and he is going to make her a star. The whole time she is with Paolo she is leaving Gordo to cover for her. Eventually Gordo gets caught & suppposedly sent home & it makes Lizzie unhappy. Lizze fianlly finds out were her heart resides. When she goes to the coleseum to perform Gordo is there telling her Paolo is a fake & he has come up with a way to prove it. Mean time the teacher & leader of the class finds out Lizze herself is missing & they set out to find her. Also Lizzes family has came to Rome to find Lizzie because she is all over magazine covers. During the shoe everyones turns up at the show to Lizzie's big perfomance and Paolo's career gets blown because he himself cannot sing. In the end he is a fraud & they end up at the hotel packing for home & Gordo and Lizzie finally kiss. Great movie I recommend it, but dont expect it to be like the show its a little different.

No wonder Faye Dunaway wants to slap the crap out of her!!

This so called "actress" thinks she can play "Bonnie" in "Bonnie and Clyde"?

I wouldn't blame La Dunaway to reprise "Mommie Dearest" and beat Duff with a wire hanger.
