Plot: This is the fourth in a series of movies that began with National Lampoon's Vacation in 1983 and feature the family headed by Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) going on wacky vacations. This time, the Griswolds visit Las Vegas. Clark immediately goes to the blackjack table and starts blowing all his money, continually encouraged to spend more and more by a taunting dealer, Marty (Wallace Shawn). Ellen Griswold (Beverly D'Angelo) becomes smitten with the lounge singer Wayne Newton (playing himself), who invites her to sing onstage with him. Their son Rusty (Ethan Embry) is incredibly lucky playing dice, and he is virtually adopted by a family of gangsters who see him as their meal ticket. Daughter Audrey (Marisol Nichols) gets hooked up with her wild cousin Vickie (Shae D'Lyn), who takes her to sleazy dance clubs. White-trash cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid), who lives on a former A-bomb test site in the nearby desert, also gets involved with the capers. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

All in all a great movie. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because The first two in the series are my favorite (especially Christmas Vacation). I've seen it more times than I remember, but still felt the need to add it to my collection.

" VEGAS VACATION"
Added 7/13/2009

I didn't think the Vacation series could get funnier than Christmas Vacation until I viewed this entry. Being a Vegas goer I find this film hilarious from start to finish. Randy Quaid's character is too funny for words. The way Wayne Newton has fun with his own "Vegas" persona is a riot. The tongue and cheek manner which Vegas is portrayed is too fuuny for words.

I throw this in the DVD player just before every Vegas trip to get the "Vegas" juices going.

The last of The National Lampoon's movies. Not as good as the others, but still enjoyable. Different kids again.

Chevy still has it

Don't listen to anything anyone else tells you--Chevy Chase still has it after all these years. He is a great physical comedian, and he still delivers successfully, even in the last of the REAL National Lampoon Vacation films. Remember that the real running joke in the Griswold family films was that the kids were always played by different actors and their ages were never really established, nor did they ever really age.

Not a jackpot!

Vegas Vacation is the last of the franchise and probably the second worst. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo look completely bored in this one, glad they didn't make another Vacation after this box-office flop. Randy Quaid reprises his role as the annoying and vile Eddie. The whole Vegas premise seemed like a good idea but to my chagrin this film isn't priceless.
