Plot: A casual gay pickup turns into a nightmare in Tony Piccirillo's adaptation of his play, The 24th Day. Tom (Scott Speedman of TV's Felicity) approaches Dan (James Marsden of X-Men) in a bar, and the two hit it off. Tom brings Dan home to his apartment, where, after some idle chatter, Dan tries to kiss Tom. Tom shies away, and begins asking Dan about his sexual history. Dan eventually realizes that he's been in Tom's apartment before. They had an encounter several years ago, and Tom has a much clearer memory of that night than Dan does. Eventually, things turn ugly, and Dan finds himself tied to a chair. Tom extracts a blood sample, explaining to Dan that he just recently learned that he's HIV-positive. Tom insists that he's not gay, and believes that the only way he could have gotten the virus is from Dan. Tom goes out to have the blood sample tested, and when he gets back, he tells Dan that when he gets the results back, if Dan is HIV-positive, Tom is going to kill him. As they wait for the results, the hours go by, and Dan tries to engage Tom in conversation, to engage his sympathy, and to find a way to escape. As the two men talk and battle for control, Piccirillo flashes back to the recent past, and Tom's motives become more clear. The 24th Day was shown at the {~2004 Tribeca Film Festival}. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

The Most Incredible Movie I Have Ever Seen!!!
Added 3/26/2009

I wish this rating system had a choice of more than just 5 stars. This is definitely the best film I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, and I would recommend it to any movie lover (as long as your idea of a good time isn't limited to just Napoleon Dynamite or Talladega Nights). Packed with intelligent, bone-chilling dialogue, this movie will never leave you once you watch it.

"An Engrossing Thriller"

"The 24th Day" is one of the best independent films ever. Without giving away any of the plot, it is about one's responsibility in this age of AIDS towards oneself and to others while having sex. The movie is based on a stage play, but the film adds moblity to the story. The leads pull off terrific performances as we see who survives this cat and mouse game as one of the characters become the others captive prisoner. James Marsden, as always, is beautiful to look at, but he finally shows the kind of actor he is. You won't get a film showing lots of endless sex scenes between two gay men, but you will get a story that is innovative and suspenseful.

I don't know what the reviewer "Gordon Larko" is smoking. For some reason, he feels compelled to leave the EXACT SAME horrible review and 1 STAR rating for all GAY-THEMED movies. Probably a "personal problem" of his. Hopefully this review will help correct this imbalance. I can't believe AMAZON is allowing this GAY BASHER to use their website as a venue to spread his hate.
By the way, This is an absolutely WONDERFUL movie!

Tick Tock, has 24 hours ever seemed so long.... your fate at the end of the time

This was as suspenseful a movie as I have seen in a long time. Wondering is he going to pass the test or not. You wonder what you would do if you had been impaired and had that slight doubt but kept up the bravado and also you start these psychological games with the hostage keeper and trying to out psych him and think he's convincing him then he laughs at the hostage. Without saying much to give it away it is a twist and you vascilate between what you would do and as the hostage taker starts drinking and letting more of his life story slip the mystery really starts. Then he goes out and leaves the guy tied to the chair and it wa so Hitchcockian, tick tock with everything silence except the racing noise in his brain, then the movie he plays trying to remember the night before, he was drunk too, did he do it or , no way he couldn't have. Besides even if he had it would be OK. 24 hours is a long time, I have had to wait an hour for lab tests and that seemed like 24 hours I can only imagine. And will he cut him up as he describes so graphically if the test comes back positive? Just when you are calm and think the 24 hours has gone by and the ropes are cut there is 10 seconds of overtime that changes the whole hour and a half of movie.
