Plot: Edward R. Murrow holds a special place in the hearts of those old enough to remember World War II. The Voice of America brought news from the battlefront overseas to those who awaited anxiously back home. This program tells the story of the great broadcast journalist, whose career spanned the age of radio into the early days of televison. The pioneering television anchorman, with his serious demeanor and stentorian voice, read the news each evening. He produced white papers on important issues, but was forced by advertisers to lighten up his tone so as not to rock the seemingly serene boat of the 1950s. Archival radio broadcasts and television clips display Murrow's distinctive style.
