Why did I order this? I don't know. Still, it wasn't too much of a waste of an hour and a half. Do I recommend it? I don't know. If you want to take a chance. Go 'head.

Compassion For People And Animals Is The Key To Life
Added 3/26/2008
I loved this movie. I came upon it accidently When I saw the title Hood Rat I started watching it about 15 minutes into the movie. My building where I live has tried to evict me. The building is infested with mice. I catch the mice that enter my apartment with a humane trap. During the winter I put them in a tank with food and water then release them in a park when it gets warmer. The exterminator in the building was upset with me for not using glue traps. I have saved many rats as well. This is slow torture (glue traps) for mice and rats. This movie uses the rats as a metaphor. Rats are viewed as the lowest of the low. diseased, etc. In fact rats are cleaner than people think. They are constantly cleaning themselves. They have no where else to go so they end up where humans throw their waste. Homeless people are dispised as
blights upon the city. They have no where to go. Money and power control society. If you don't posess at least one of these, you are forgotten. God loves ALL his people and ALL of his animals. When we start treating the poor and neglected people and treat the neglected animals better, the world will be a better place. Of course this is a fictional movie, rats would not attack like that. But the movie sends a great message from the bible. AND THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH

I Enjoyed This Movie
Added 12/31/2004
I really enjoyed this movie. Crazy, but still good. I figured the other reviews were not going to be good, but I'm a very easy person to please. I'm going to tell a friend about this movie because they might like it maybe. Isaiah played a character that reminded me of me in my evil days before I turned to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Isaiah was like an evil shepherd and the rats were his flock. I related to Isaiah's character in certain aspects. I'm not really into horror type of movies, but this was a good one in my opinion. I don't expect anybody else to like it though, because like I said, I'm easy to please.

Rats!!! I can't believe I watched this horrible movie!!!
Added 8/4/2004
I knew when the movie started that by the end I would not like this film. For starters you have to deal with 5 min of BS dialogue of the exterminator (Miguel Nunez) speaking to his woman, and talking major trash. Then turns out this exterminator is a crack head!!! When the exterminator tries to get away he is swarmed and killed. There is no evidence of his disappearance, seems these rats know how to dispose of the bones. Fast forward to Forrest Towers. A building kept in horrible condition by Mr. Souliez who could care less about the people. The folks he hired to make sure building was kept in proper order did not do that, and he "acts" like he is not aware of it. He is ordered to live in his own building, and fix everything. Grady (Ice-T) his right hand man, pretty much goes around collecting rent, and is rather comical. But not in a good way.
Max(Isaiah Washington) lived in the building with his wheel-chair bound brother Courtney (Guy Torry). Grady charges them $50 a month to live in a rat infested basement. Max is a kind hearted person, and he is in love with Lena. Lena is having problems with her boyfriend, and is not aware she is the object of Max's desires. Max also befriends a rat. This rat seems to be the "leader" of the other rats. Mr. Souliez comes up with the brilliant idea of gating, and locking down the premises by sun down. Anyone not on the property will be locked out no exceptions. This causes Courtney to be locked out of the building, and when he tries to find another way in, he has an accident. When Max finds out what happens he wants nothing but revenge for his brother, and revenge he gets. Except when the rats go after Lena, Max realizes his idea was not such a good one.
This movie was just stupid. It was stupid movie, that was NOT scary, and it had a stupid, stupid, ending. This movie was horrible, and why Isaiah Washington even bothered to star in this pathetic film is a mystery that may never be solved. Lena's character upset me to know end. She played the stupid weak woman who took the no good boyfriend back. When the boyfriend sweet talked her, and said all the nonsense she wanted to hear, he was back in her home, and life. DUMB!!! Don't rent it, don't watch it on TV, and don't even borrow it from your local library. Just leave this horrible movie on the library shelf. Don't even watch this movie on a slow night!!! Don't bother. This movie was simply horrendous. I wish I could give this movie a zero rating, but I have no choice but to give this low budget piece of trash a rating of 1. The real HORROR is the the wasted time you waste watching this sorry movie!!!!
