Plot: Though equally respected in their field, divorce lawyers Audrey Woods (Julianne Moore) and Daniel Rafferty (Pierce Brosnan) are opposites inside and out of the courtroom. Audrey is meticulous and by the book, while Daniel relies on personality and luck to get by. Despite the difference in methods, neither lawyer has lost a case, and neither plan on ending their streak after being respectively hired by Serena (Parker Posey) and Thorne (Michael Sheen), a celebrity power couple gone wrong. The divorce settlement hinges on a particularly spectacular Irish castle, which both parties would like to keep for themselves. Audrey and Daniel hurry to Ireland with depositions in their eyes, but a growing mutual attraction manages to squirm out from beneath, and, after being immersed in a romantic Irish festival, the rival lawyers wake up married. Reeling, potentially in love (to Audrey in particular's dismay), and faced with the type of media explosion capable of leading to the end of their careers, the mismatched lawyers contemplate how to go about their clients' divorce hearings as man and wife. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

Nice Romance

If you like Pierce Brosnan or Julianne Moore this movie is for you. Anyone who enjoys a Romantic Comedy will also like this movie. I did enjoy the storyline and how Ireland was incorporated into the storyline. Better to buy in a set though.

Unlike many others, I really enjoyed this quirky movie. Julianne Moore is the perfect choice to play the compulsive anal-retentive divorce attorney. Her mannerisms and body language fit so well with the character. Pierce Brosnan is always a great choice for a romantic lead, and this film was a good fit for him. Pierce and Julianne had real chemistry, and their on screen presence together was heart warming. Even though this is a classified as a comedy, I liked the combination of drama and comedy.

Should have gone straight to TV...

Physical beauty counts in films, and Brosnan and Moore
are stunners. That said, Moore cannot play comedy, so
Brosnan's repartee scenes with her are a complete waste.
Not since "Yes, Giorgio" have I heard such stilted and
witless dialogue, and these writers were not writing
for an opera singer, but for movie stars, large-calibre
movie stars. Noticing that Brosnan's production company,
Irish Dreamtime, was a major player in this mess, we don't
have the usual commercial interests to blame entirely.
So,turn your video to no-sound,and enjoy the lovely Irish
scenery, and the marvelous physicality of Brosnan. No one
gets into a limo as he does in the last scene but one.
The man has the build of a dancer, and is drop-dead elegant.

Fun and silly

Okay, on the whole I liked this film, because in the end it had a good message--that marriage is worth fighting for and that relationships aren't easy, but they are worth the effort.

There is a pretty high cheese factor in this film...thanks to Julianne (e.g., the scene of escaping His office without getting caught was nuts, but fun, and then the secret cam shots--perfect). I didn't scream too much, but I did laugh a lot.

What I didn't like--getting into a situation because you got so drunk one night that you didn't know what you were doing; I think this premise is over used and abused. So, I guess in the end it depends on what you value more: a good ending (get the film) or more responsible characters (couldn't get past the first act).

Really like Juilanne Moore but the story was so predictable. Some cute moments and occasional humor but I would not watch again....
