Street Fighter X Tekken update brings replay analyzer, gems

Street Fighter X Tekken is getting another update on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 today. It offers a "Replay Analyzer" to help you improve your skills, and a whole lot of new gems to customize your fighters to your liking. The "Replay Analyzer" is a tool that displays data from a replay, so you can see more details from great players or pick apart your own replay sessions to see what you did wrong. The Capcom-Unity blog doesn't share much detail on the tool, but it does detail the gems. Nine packs are coming in all, each of them spanning 3-10 gems apiece. They run the gamut from assists and boosts to specialty packs that can only be used by Street Fighter or Tekken characters. Presumably, when the PlayStation Vita version hits this fall, it will already include most of these updates. The game has lost a bit of fan-support due to the controversy over on-disc DLC and Capcom's resp (Read More)

Street Fighter X Tekken dev 'disappointed' in DLC being hacked

Producer Tomoaki Ayano expresses dismay at unauthorized unlocking of 12 on-disc characters, surprise at skill of hackers. &#160 Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoaki Ayano is disappointed that hackers are already playing with the dozen fighters planned as downloadable content for his game. Speaking with GameSpot, the developer expressed dismay at the hackers' actions but acknowledgement of their skill. Ayano isn't the only one "disappointed" by this whole saga. "Personally, I was really surprised when I heard the news that the characters had been hacked, basically," Ayano told GameSpot. "So I was pretty disappointed by that. I was really surprised at how skillful the hackers were, basically. But I was really kind of disappointed that it created this kind of environment where a bunch of players were (Read More)

Street Fighter X Tekken sports PS3-Vita cross-platform play

At Capcom's "Captivate" event, the company announced an unsurprising but nevertheless nifty feature for Street Fighter X Tekken . Once the Vita version hits this fall, you can play cross-platform against PlayStation 3 owners, via Wi-Fi or 3G. We would say to play 3G at your own risk against console owners with months of experience and access to fight sticks, but that's your prerogative. Other newly announced features for the Vita version include touch controls, local and Wi-Fi multiplayer with other Vita version owners, and the use of Vita's Near function. It seems like the presumably cheaper Vita version is the one to get if you haven't already plunked down your cash. Capcom announced a long time ago that downloadable content will be cross-platform , so any extras you buy with the Vita will work on PS3, and vice-versa. This also makes a bit more sense of the extra characters b (Read More)

Shacknews Daily: Apr 03, 2012 - Batman DLC, Amazon video on PS3

In a response to a Better Business Bureau complaint, Capcom says of Street Fighter x Tekken DLC being on the disc already that there's 'no distinction' between that and a full download other than delivery mechanism. It's probably time to start calling this content something other than "downloadable" then. Newly found trophies for the PS3 point to more story content coming our way for Batman: Arkham City. It also sounds like Robin may make it out of the challenge maps and out on his own for some of the extra adventuring. And the PlayStation 3 got a nice addition to its entertainment options today with Amazon's instant video service hitting the console complete with access for Amazon prime members to 17,000+ free to stream shows and movies. Check out today's episode of Shacknews Daily .
