Lucille Ball stars as a beautiful, temperamental movie star who's the victim of one wild promotional stunt after another in The Affairs of Annabel.
To promote one movie, Annabel Allison (Ball) spends a month in prison. As soon as she's released, her seedy agent, Lanny Morgan (Jack Oakie), lands her a job as the maid for a wealthy family.
And when thieves invade the house and hold the family for ransom, Morgan hires movie extras to act as police and storm the house in front of publicity cameras—then has Annabel arrested as the mastermind jewel thief to promote her upcoming film—in this nonstop, breakneck comedy.
Based on the story Menial Star by Charles Hoffman.
