The Houston Herricanes were part of the groundbreaking first women’s full tackle football league of the 1970s which also included the Oklahoma City Dolls and the Toledo Troopers. Through the lens of The Herricanes, filmmaker Olivia Kuan brings this unknown story of commitment, courage and strength to the forefront where it belongs. This is also a deeply personal for Kuan as her mother, Basia Haszlakiewicz, was a player on team. Despite adversity and hardship, they fielded a team purely for the love of the game. The controversial league kicked open a door in the world of sports, with a movement that is still in motion today.
