Glengarry Glen Ross

It is not often that a play can be so successfully made into a outstanding movie. David Mamet's play is made into a screenplay/movie with an outstanding cast and the actors performances are some of the best acting I've ever seen. This is a very interesting movie.
Mamet has a specific type of dialog, a syntax and overlapping type of dialog and interaction between the actors. In addition, Mamet and the actors intergrate the slang talk and slang terms that are unique to this type of sales work. The actors in this film capture this very well in the roles of commision salesmen.
The cast; Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey and Alec Baldwin are all outstanding and turn in great performances.

Not enough words to describe what a fantastic film this is. An all-star cast, this one's great! If you're in sales, especially real estate, it's a must-see. Regardless of your trade, the acting is worth the purchase. This one definitely needs to go into your library!!
Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey, Ed Harris, Alec Baldwin...come on! Great on-screen chemistry, excellent script...can't go wrong!

Superb dialogue, narrative, and acting steal the show

When big-name actors are assembled together I am usually pessimistic about the prospects of genuine dramatic success; the latest combination with Deniro and Pachino in some macho cop movie is a testament to this, as are plenty of others that I don't wish to recall. This movie is however a stunning exception.
Glengarry Glen Ross is about the depraved world of "Sales", in this case real-estate. The setting is only supplementary to what really shines though since what it offers is an atmosphere that is to be cultivated by the actors and writer David Mamet. This film compelling articulates an atmosphere which is ripe with the potentiality for greed, materialism, lying, cheating, and moral vulgarity, all of which apparently constitute the business-life for the groundlings who get to spar for the "leads".
This is not a movie which serves as a vehicle for a typical leftist tract [Avatar]. It is not a movie which contains fireworks for oooo n' ahhh-ing nor is does it incorporate some superfluous cheesy romance for sham sentimentality. This is subtle drama, very much like "There will be Blood" or "Doubt". It triumphs with its dialogue, narrative and acting, all of which deserve however many superlatives one can conjure up. Essential viewing; these only come out ever few years or so.

"Put that coffee down! Coffee is for closers only."

Guns. Explosions. Car chases. Sex. Damsels in distress. Child sidekicks. MTV-like madness. These are the things that Glengarry Glen Ross DOESN'T have. So what makes it so great? Because it's a character-driven story that relies strictly on dialogue and personalities. There is no need for gunfights and car chases; the characters and the dialogue in this movie are what makes it so captivating. These characters are raunchy and obscene; it's hard to either love them or despise them.
Based on the Tony Award-winning play by David Mamet, it is a story about desperation, distrust, greed, and real estate. There are six main characters, and they easily make the film for their hard-hitting attitudes. Pacino, Lemmon, Harris, Arkin, Spacey, and Baldwin . . . I don't know how to perfectly describe them. They are brilliant. The way they interact with each other, how they detest each other, how they trust and distrust each other; complexity lies in their chemistry. The plot may be simple, but it's the characters that makes Glengarry Glen Ross really special. It's a movie that must be remembered for every new generation.
Word of caution: if you can't stand heavy profanity, then you probably won't feel very comfortable while watching this. The F and S words are constantly used throughout, so you have been warned.
