Stupid, stupid, stupid ...and that is being nice
Added 1/22/2010

The animation is lousy, music was below second rate, characters were poorly designed and written, the voices awful and some annoying, the story line...well, dumb does not even beging to explain it, and beyond boring. The kids even couldnt finish it.

Not trying to be mean...really I am not. I always try to give everything a fair try but this is sooooo bad. I found this at a yard sale for a $1 and it was a waste of even that. Sorry. They thought they could capitalize on the orginal and feel so short it is not even funny. Honestly deserves a negative star.

Happily Ever After on DVD
Added 10/17/2009

This DVD release is not exactly outstanding. In fact, it is fairly difficult to see a notable difference between the DVD and VHS quality. However, if your tape is on its last leg, this is a good investment. Unless, of course, you want to wait on the new phantom DVD release.

It is called "Happily Ever After: Snow White's Greatest Adventure (Collector's Edition)", and it is unknown when or if it will ever become available. The release date was 6/5/2007. It was to include a number of great special features. It is a shame, because it is not sold anywhere. Now it is a mystery...

Specifications:

My DVD came with two inserts: one a slightly modified version of the cover art; and on its backside, a list of chapters for scene selection. The second is a small pamphlet of other available Fox Family Feature DVDs.

The movie is in "full frame" format.

The only special features on this DVD are three trailers. These include "Anastasia", "Bartok the Magnificent", and "FernGully: The Last Rainforest".

this doesn't deserve one star...

This movie is typical low-budget fare. I say low-budget only because the characters and the animation have a Saturday morning cartoon appearance. The cast is all-star, which might be the problem. All of the money was spent on actors!

Snow White and the Prince are ok characters. There is an owl voiced by Ed Asner that could have been cut from the story, nothing against Asner. The owl is a perpetual cigar smoking violent character, nothing good there. The villan is the usual carbon copy villan with nothing new to add to the story.

The movie had promise with the number of quality actors but fell short due to the writing and directing. I'm glad we borrowed this instead of buying.

Great Animated Film
Added 3/26/2009

This was an all time favorite of mine as a child and I still find myself enjoying it as an adult. The idea that they were ripping off Disney is a little silly being that Disney just ripped off Brothers Grimm. I prefer this 10 fold to the other Snow White. I appreciate that it allowed Snow White to be a hero and not just a victim unlike the previous.(It was different times) The characters protect and save each other. I think the songs are cute. Dom Deluise as the looking glass is my favorite. My two year old daughter enjoyed it. Great movie for kids. I would recommend it. Fun stuff.
