Loved this movie! I have watched it over and over, in fact, I don't understand why it wasn't much of hit in the theaters. I especially think the ending is powerful.

I purchased this DVD listed as "like new". It arrived literally cracked and broken and was un-viewable. I was very disappointed.

Very Classy Ending
Added 11/4/2008

Note: This will allude to some spoilers.

One reason to watch this film is to see the beautiful pairing of Gere and Stone. (See also Gere and Kaprisky in Breathless: a stunning couple in the prime of their youth.)

However, there is far more to this movie than a slick presentation. Stone's cool blonde beauty is a little too icy, making the flame of the warm redhead (Davidovich) too hard for Gere to resist.

Sally and Olivia are poised and dignified when they meet, which encourages respect for the characters and an interest in following their story.

The eventual train wreck of a car wreck is tough to watch. The director uses slow motion to good advantage. Tragic as Vincent's demise is, we get to see his vision where he ends up with the girl, and Sally ends up with the guy of her choice. In a perfect world the ex will always lift a glass to his or her replacement, but how often does that actually happen? This makes for great cinema.

What really sold me on this film for good is the way that Sally and Olivia chose to keep their respective secrets in the end, each allowing the other to maintain her dignity and self-esteem.

All triangles should be this dignified and classy. All films should end on note this high and admirable.

Everyone knows the plot synopsis already so this is just my opinion. I bought this DVD after catching part of the movie on TV. I was totally engrossed in the story of Vincent's lust for Olivia and betrayal of Sally. I especially enjoyed the ending where the two women meet at the hospital, each thinking she has won her man, neither knowing the truth. Lolita Davidovich was absolutely charming. This is a great movie to pop in the DVD player on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Intersection - meeting on the other side

Well written, equally well acted, beautiful scenery. A love story with a sad ending and well worth watching over and over again.

I also loved the music score.
