Motorcycle doing wheelie can't flip backwards
Added 3/20/2010

Try GRID racing game which I think is better.

Way, way too many screen options before I could just start racing is very very frustrating.

Only 1 car and 1 motorcycle, the rest have to be bought online (stop nickel and dime me).

I didn't grow up with muscle cars, mostly rice burner cars.

Awesome crash scenes.

Burnout Paradise is one of the most fun games i have ever played. The game just lets you roam around a city bigger than boston, and there are no limits to where you can go. you can go in alleyways and off big jumps and the graphics rival codmw2. you go 250 and the roads dont even blur. Only 2 things are wrong with this game and they are not big problems. #1 is you crsh very easily but they are very realistic. #2 is that there is no speedometer cause i would like to see how fast u r goin. Races r very challenging when u get to A liscence but not impossible. I also like the liscence system. you have to win a certain # of events to level up and you get a new car. you get new cars in the middle of a liscense by crashing it. overall, a game you never get tired of and a easy five star game

You can't beat this deal! You get a lot of game play for the money. Graphics are excellent and so is the sound. Game play is not too difficult so I recomend it for all ages.

Give it a try, you won't be dissapointed!

A must own racing game for any PS3 owner!
Added 1/5/2010

Most people who buy "Burnout Paradise" are likely those who have played another entry in the Burnout Series. This was my first Burnout game, so I was able to enter without any preconcieved expectations.

And this game exceeded which little ones I had. Convincingly.

First off, everything is unlocked, save for the cars, right away. This allows you to approach the game YOUR way. Want to go look for all 400 hidden smashes and 120 billboards? You can. Want to try and clear all the missions first? You can. Want to knock out all the time trails and showtimes for each road? Well, you get the idea. This open world approach works wonders, and is real refreshing considering the normal progression of racing games, where you need a "license" or have to meet a specific finish to advance the game.

Secondly, there's something for everyone here. Want to just smash cars? Then the Road Rage challenges, where you must "takedown" a certain number of cars in 2 minutes are for you. Want to be the hunted? Then you'll love the Marked Man challenges, which start off fairly easy but will get incredibly difficult as you get better cars. And of course, there are "races" where it's exactly like it sounds, you have to be the first to cross the finish line! New to this version of Burnout is the "Stunt Run" where you have to score a certain number of points in 2 minutes. Finally, each car you take down during the game (cars randomly appear after completing so many events), has a "super" version you can unlock through completing its respective "Burning Route" shown on the map.

There are a couple issues that do complicate things. The first is during a race, and because of the wide open nature, it can be hard to tell where you need to go. The intent is for players to find their own paths, and a road sigh will appear flashing when you need to turn, but that's hard to do when you're driving as fast as you have to in order to win. And in reality, the compass function doesn't work really well. So you might have to pause the game to make sure you're on the right track. Secondly, and this goes along with the above paragraph, if you do lose an event, you then have to trek back to that spot and try again. Which obviously, if you just tried to beat a near 3 minute burning route/race can be annoying.

So in short, I break it down like this:

Graphics: 9.5/10 This game simply looks amazing, from the cars, to the city. You feel immersed, as if you're really in Paradise City.

Sound: 9/10 Every car has a unique sound when it comes to engine revving, shifting, etc. Wrecks sound realistic too.

Controls: 8.5.10 The default setup (with the gas being R2 and the break being L2) is a little counterintutive from what I've been used to in a racing game, but can be changed. Your finger will also get quite sore trying to use R2 as well. Choosing the right car definitely affects your control of it.

Music: 8/10. A mixed bag here. The Guns N' Roses song is a perfect opening for this game, and the inclusion of Alice and Chains, etc. are great touches. I could have done completely without the classicial music. It would be more realistic if future Burnout games in the same setting had radio stations like Grand Theft Auto did.

Gameplay: 10/10. This game runs completely smooth. You feel the sense of speed, especially when you kick in the boost. Moreover, this game is just FUN to play, even if you're not attempting a task. Especially when you are wrecking. :)

Replay Value: 10/10. With 500 challenges online, 400 smashes, 120 billboards, Super Jumps, messages, time trials and showtimes, it will take you a long time to get 100% completion.

DLC Content: 9/10. Burnout Paradise also has Big Surf Island, which adds some smashes, challenges, etc. to the package, and sells for $12.99 on the PSN. It's a decent addition but once you have some experience with Paradise City, doing everything here will come really easy. You can also buy special cars and other add-ons as well, including unlocking every car in the game if you don't want to go through all of it!

In closing, this is a fantastic racing game that's fun for everyone in your family, and is highly recommended!

A Must Have For Any PS3 Owner
Added 2/13/2010

Let me get this straight, first of all. I'm new to the Ratchet and Clank series. Sure, I've read reviews about it, but I've never actually played a Ratchet and Clank game. I recently got my PS3, and purchased Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. It's amazing. The combat is great. The controls feel tight and responsive, and enemies can be alot of fun to fight. The weapons in this game are AMAZING. A few of my favorite weapons are the Shard Reaper, a weird shotgun, Buzz Blades, which sends spinning saws ricocheting across the area, and the Negotiator, a powerful rocket launcher. Not to mention all the weapons can be upgraded via spending raritanium at Grummelnet weapons vendors, and once you use them they gain exp. If they level up 5 times, they upgrade into a new, more powerful weapon (i.e. Shard Reaper = Nitro Reaper, Buzz Blades = Doom Blades, and Negotiator = Judicator). There is also armor to purchase, and hilarious "Devices" (i.e. a disco ball that makes enemies dance). The game's platforming is fun, to. You get to use a variety of gadgets to traverse platforms. And, on top of it all, the game is HILARIOUS. never gets to serious, and made me laugh out loud as much as Battlefield: Bad Company. There are some epic moments thrown in there to, by the way, like when you jump out of your ship with two warbots, land, and are immediatley thrust against waves of enemies. The story of Ratchet and Clank's search for the Lombax Secret is enjoyable. My only gripe with this game is that most enemies and bosses are far to easy, but, hey, that's what challenge mode's for, eh? The combat feels tight. The platforming is fun. The weapons, armor, and devices are awsome. The high definition graphics are beautiful. And the warbots (Cronk and Zephyr) represent the PS3 and 360, respectfully, and are always arguing over whos best. I've said enough. GO BUY THIS GAME!

Final Score - 9.6

Fun Game that looks like a Pixar Movie HATE the RED CASE
Added 2/4/2010

Great Graphics
Great Story
Great Gameplay

THE RED CASE is really annoying for me. I think they should get rid of the RED Greatest Hits Cases. It looks so ugly and cheap.

Overall: Everything is perfect except for the RED CASE but otherwise this should not stop you from buying this Great Game.
