One Fine Mess
Added 2/9/2010

I had a visceral dislike for this movie - the characters portrayed are actually very hateful people, with no love to give to themselves, each other, or their children. I have no idea why this would pass as a romantic comedy. It was neither romantic nor amusing. The two main characters have been damaged by love. They are actually in a post-traumatic stress situation, where they don't know what the heck is wrong themselves. I would advise both the Clooney character and the Pfeiffer character to remain single until their children grow up and leave home, so the kids will not be damaged by divorce twice in their young lives. This couple is going to have a nasty break-up, it's inevitable.

The people in this film really are awful people that I have no interest in getting to know any better. It's possible that the screenplay was written by a recovering divorced man who thought for some reason his story was actually positive. I've seen war films with more humor and likability than this fine mess.

All music seemed clear and complete, and some songs that stick with you long after you've listened.

One Fine CD

This is an enjoyable mix to listen to, even if you aren't familiar with the movie. It's got just the right combination of romantic and fun songs to make it a great addition to my ipod albums. I recommend it!

Absolutely the best soundtrack out there
Added 5/1/2009

This is the perfect compilation of music. The movie is great, but the soundtrack is outstanding. Perfect background music for a dinner party. Natalie Merchant's "One Fine Day" gives the song an entirely new feel. Ditto on Harry Connick Jr.'s take on Bacharach's "This Guy's In Love With You." And I particularly love Ella Fitzgerald's "Isn't It Romantic." And yes, it certainly is. One would think that Tina Arena's "Love's Funny That Way" would seem out of place with its country/pop feel, but it fits in nicely and compliments well those that surround it. This is one of those music compilations that you can listen to over and over and it never gets old.

Such a great movie. Filled with all the right drama.....happiness, sadness and perseverence. Michelle Pfeiffer couldn't have given a more perfect performance and Robert Redford was right behind her giving it back. Great love story...

Fantastic movie!!!
Added 8/31/2008

This movie is an inspiring tale of life and love. Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford do an absolutely fantastic job of playing their characters in such a way that you forget that they are just acting. Their chemistry and romance are very believable. The timing of the film (from present to past, etc.) is flawless and doesn't get confusing as it can in some movies. The story teaches the old saying of "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all". I've watched this movie time and time again and I don't get tired of it.
